Why do guys in the military break up with their girlfriends before deployments even though they say they still love them and that there will still be a chance at having a relationship when they come back?

Im sick of hearing people rant on and on why the war is bad and why we need to bring our troops home. Im sick of hearing that our troops are killing innocent people and laughing about it. I think the only people who have to right to oppose the war or troops even are the soliders themselve. The ones that have been over there and seen what the enemy is capable of first hand. Us sitting here in our safe houses dont really know what its like over there...so I ask
Does anyone out there support the troops?
Does anyone out there support the war?
Does anyone out there not hate Bush?

I just read this article:

I see a lot of potential for security problems...

Agree? Disagree?

Also I have seemed to notice that recent aircraft carriers tend to be named after Republican presidents...Is there a reason ?...Is it because Repubs tend to support the military more?
Just curious ,,,if I am wrong please let me know.

Seriously, what was the point of taking time to put on the helmets if they were going to kill themselves anyway? Why would the military spend the money on this protective gear for the Kamikaze when they were going to die anyway? It seems like a waste of money and time!

i don't know how long my friend's term is, i'm assuming 4. what happens after his last term? i heard he would be on on-call and he'd still be a marine, then i heard that that would be the last of him being a marine.

I'm a Junior in Highschool and I want to become a nurse in the military. I'm thinking in the Marines or the Air Force. Should I talk to recruiters? I know my grades are deffinetly important. What steps should I take? My teacher told me to enter as an officer and then apply as a nurse? Is that right, or should i go to nursing school first? I'm not sure how to do this! Someone want to cough up some advice for me? Please and Thank You! (:

I have been out of the navy for about 6 months now and I can honestly say that I miss it. I still work with the reserves, and I'm not sure what I want to study in college so it seems reasonable to me to just get back in... but I know there had to have been a reason to get out and I just don't know what to do. I don't want to be miserable right now but I think I may have been happier in uniform.

I mean, I would think you could just mount a backwards facing machine gun (or missiles) so that when the enemy is behind you, it's possible to fight back.

When I was in the army, I had a first seargent say that he was tired of hearing people complain about the new army; there's just the army. There was no such thing as the old army. I know this isn't true, there really is an old army and a new army. When I was in basic, you couldn't get beat up anymore but you could damn sure still get smoked, then when I was on permanent duty I met a private who said they had stress cards, that they could use for a 'time-out'! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? What I want to know is, when and how did the change occur? Is it going back, I hope?

My biggest aspiration is to graduate from the Air Force Academy and become a fighter pilot. At the academy i plan to play football, hockey, be part of the sabre, soaring, and wings of blue drill team, and the aviation club. (I am fully aware that this is over ambitious) However, I kind of messed up in my freshmen year of high school acacadmically (not horrible but about 2.0) but this year (sophmore) i have a 4.17, i'm in AP classes and plan to take more, i play football for the school, i'm the 1st lieutenant and athletic commander of an njrotc, i plan to have a total of 300 voulenteer hours at the VA hospital, several letters of reccomendation, beyond perfect vision, and a students piliot liscense. I know I'm doing a lot of things that i should be, but is there anything else i can do to improve my chances of being accepted into the academy, and making it onto the teams above???

Let's say the Vietnam War was going on and I just got my draft letter. Could I choose to serve in the navy instead? It seems like a much better alternative to being a soldier on foot.
