Jimmy Carter started it, Reagan ended it, and Clinton reinstated it. A commission was appointed to study it and they recommended the program be ended, but all of the branches (Army, Navy, Air Force) still have some co-ed basic training except for the Marines.

I can only speak for the Army and the Coast Guard, but I know they have co-ed basic trainings. My husband and I were both in the Army and I had to go to a co-ed training post because there are no "all-female" trainings. In the Army, Ft. Jackson and Ft. Leonard Wood are co-ed.
In the Coast Guard, the training base in Cape May, NJ is also co-ed. (My husband is in the CG now.)
I don't know what they do in the Navy, Air Force and Marines.
Even though the trainings are co-ed, the male and female trainees aren't allowed to hang out together or "fraternize" as it's called because it is against the rules.

When I went through army basic and AIT training in the mid 90's, it was co-ed, for MP basic/school. We had separate sleeping areas though, and the guys couldn't come in our barracks, but we could go up to a certain "point" inside theirs.

there is entirely one region to do Boot Camp for the army for all women human beings and men. So definite that's co-ed yet they do now stay conscious interior the comparable barracks jointly, they are in separate components of Boot.

every Branch except the Marines train their recruits together but will have separate berthing and showering facilities.
Not that it matters, NO interaction between the genders is allowed.
