i was just diagnosed with gout. ive been in the air force for 4 years, and i have 4 more to go til my enlistment is up. my first occurance of gout wasnt that bad, just a painful left toe. i took anti imflamatory pills and i feel fine now. has anyone out there been diagnosed with gout while in the military? tell me about your expiriences please...

by the way im an aircraft mechanic, so it really wouldnt affect my work too much if it acted up again, thanks.

I doubt it, as long as you can control it with medications and it does not prevent you from being deployable.

Your gout will be the cause of referral to a Medical Evaluation Board, with the view of effecting your medical separation, only if it is an advanced case with frequent flare-ups and involves severe bone, joint or kidney damage.
