My biggest aspiration is to graduate from the Air Force Academy and become a fighter pilot. At the academy i plan to play football, hockey, be part of the sabre, soaring, and wings of blue drill team, and the aviation club. (I am fully aware that this is over ambitious) However, I kind of messed up in my freshmen year of high school acacadmically (not horrible but about 2.0) but this year (sophmore) i have a 4.17, i'm in AP classes and plan to take more, i play football for the school, i'm the 1st lieutenant and athletic commander of an njrotc, i plan to have a total of 300 voulenteer hours at the VA hospital, several letters of reccomendation, beyond perfect vision, and a students piliot liscense. I know I'm doing a lot of things that i should be, but is there anything else i can do to improve my chances of being accepted into the academy, and making it onto the teams above???

Learning how to spell would be a big help.

You should always double check your spelling and grammar.

You need to get in that habit now, before you get to the AF Academy.

Football at the academy, is not something you can just decide to do.

The football players are recruited, just like football players at any other school are, they just have to be better academically.

Since the AF academy is a division one school, and a successful division one football program at that.

You would have to be an outstanding football player, to play for them. Think all state high school.

.
You probally want to contact your local representative and let them know you are interested in applying for the AF Academy.

You also need to work with your guidance councilors, they have been thru the process before.

Well... keep your grades up, get extremely good test scores, and with your letters of reccomendation, they have to be from a congressman or higher. Like solarianus said, you won't have that much time at the academy to do all of those things. Football will be alot (because they practice year round, apparently) and will probably prevent you from doing other sports. And if you are a part of any of those organizations, be sure your grades are up. Once they notice a falling in grades, the first thing they will take away from you will be your extra-curriculars.

But, keep up the motivation, thats one of the most valuable things you have.

Well, probably one of the best things you could add to your resume would be a good standardized test score (either SAT or ACT).

As far as over ambitious.....yeah....you're going to have to drop most of those things. if on wings of blue, you'll be very busy and won't be able to participate in those other sports. Football will pretty much prevent you from the other sports, too. You can probably get the aviation and a sport in together.

Recommendation by a Congressman is needed for you to be appointed as a cadet in the Air Force Academy.
