One experience stands out to me. It was my first time on an aircraft carrier. The night sky against nothing but water and the ship is a sight I'll never forget.
The stars and the moon look brilliantly bright when there is no contests with man made light. When the airplanes turned on the engines the after burn fire looked...man...it was amazing watching them fly off into the bright night sky.
A very close second would be taking a helicopter trip from one carrier to another, it was just fun.
I would go back in time to experience again. I wouldn't go back into the Navy today thought, I have a family now and it's too hard on families.

I was in the Marines during Desert Storm. We were told that when we invaded Kuwait we would suffer heavy casualties because the Iraqis out numbered us by a lot and they were dug in and ready for a long defensive battle. My company road across the desert from Saudi Arabia into Kuwait through a large mine field anticipating a hard fight. But less than 48 hours later I was seeing Iraqi soldiers surrender by the 100's to us with hardly a shot fired. I felt like I was a part of the greatest power the world has ever known for doing good.

There were several experiences in the military that were great. If I had to pick one, it would be the humanitarian mission in Pakistan after their earthquake. Getting close to the people that needed help the most in a time of need and seeing the direct result of our great nations actions. That would be the best experience.

Navy. All 25 years. But, I guess one of the best experiences was taking the oath as an Ensign in February of 1970 after 13 years as an enlisted man.

3 1/2 years as a Marine Flight Instructor. I would go back in a heartbeat but after 2 lower back surgeries (as a result of service related injuries) I don't know what I would be qualified to do. But if they asked, I would do what I could.

There are a lot of them, but I would have to say graduation from bootcamp becuase that is when I was 1st called a Marine.
I was wounded in Iraq and found unfit to return to service, There is not way with my wounds I can return to duty, but if it was possible I would have my bags packed the same day.
No questions asked I would go back in a heartbeat

From EOD to ETS, the entire time. I was Army, 63D, track mechanic. I would do it all over in a heartbeat. I wouldn't be where I am today without having been in the military.
