Military - October 2007

What are they doing writing books and living the good life while the country is at war? Shouldn't they join the military ?

A second question: Why is it the sons and daughters of world leaders from both 'good' and 'bad' countries don't join the military? Saddam's sons weren't soldiers. Suharto's kids were soldiers. The Burmese juntas kids aren't solders.

Leaders both respected and not respected seem to support the idea that the military and the wars they create are too good for their own kids.

ok, I want to join the air force and get trained to be a aviation mechanic but its not guaranteed based on my asvab scores which i scored a 38 on mechanics but what does that prove I am very mechanically inclined. anyway I plan on taking the test again im studying my fuckin *** off. I also would like to know, lets just say I go to a near by community college and get some type of certification in mechanics then join will my skills put me in a position to get that job in the military? I also want to go to aviation mechanics training. Now the reserve or air national guard. joining part time service would help me go to school and serve but are there jobs like the ones I want? Can I crosstrain later on? Thanks please help I need advice .I want to join to do something extreme and get out of this lame *** town i live in peace.

Ive been back for about 20 days and i want to turn myself in after 27 days but i dont want to go back to basic training i just want to get out processed and dischared. What should i do to make sure i dont get put back into basic? What will they do if i fail a drug test now? Would this help me get discharged. I would really appreciate accurate answers and i do have my own reasons for leaving i suffer from depression.

Technically you are obligated for 8 years in each term. Do you face the same scrutiny if you are recalled or if you decide to reenlist at some point? Or can the change your discharge to dishonorable. Really what can they do cause technically your are not but you are not out either?

Ok, well don't really know anything about the army, but if I join the army, I heard that they would pay for your college. My mom says that I should not join the army because I can die. So my question is if I join the army so that they can pay for my college, will they send we to Iraq and is it angerous to sign up for the army?

Just wondering how long it would take, if Indonesia or another foreign foe attempted a landing in Australia, if they landed in say Cairns would you join the militia if our Government declared military rule, to ward of the foreign hordes ? How big could a militia be ?

I want to know if this dress is good enough for the marine ball coming up. i had ordered this dress online because my husband and i are in japan and it came in a different color and was not as elegant as i thought it would be, but the color does look good with his dress blues. My husband recently started recruiting duty. Since we have been here, a couple other recruiters have mentioned getting housing vouchers, so it would be like we are in base housing, where rent & utilities will be paid for. We could not find a house for our bah so we are paying a lot out of pocket. The people who mentioned it have no idea how we find out more about it or apply or whatever we need to do. I have never heard of this but am hoping someone here has. Thank you for any help.

If the US were smarter they might commission Australia to police and control South East Asia and the South Pacific to get the job done effectively and allow them to save face and to be seen to be "minding their own business", with more operational hardware we could be a much greater force ! I know it sounds weird but being an Aussie with plenty of Kiwi mates, after several drinks I actually drempt that we declared war on France after they fired missiles upon New Zealand, in retaliation for a Nuclear demonstration and Naval blockage. Glad I was dreaming, but how realistic would this scenario be ? Could we take France in the South Pacific if need be, ie, if they Attacked our "little brother" New Zealand ?

i have some old leather from ww1, from a cavalry officer consisting of mainly straps and the leather strap on an old military helmet. i was wondering if there was any procedures i could use to preserve/clean up the leather, its getting fragile and defiantly not in any sort of good condition.
