I know it sounds weird but being an Aussie with plenty of Kiwi mates, after several drinks I actually drempt that we declared war on France after they fired missiles upon New Zealand, in retaliation for a Nuclear demonstration and Naval blockage. Glad I was dreaming, but how realistic would this scenario be ? Could we take France in the South Pacific if need be, ie, if they Attacked our "little brother" New Zealand ?

That's an interesting question. I cannot recall France ever fielding an army of any consequence... anywhere. I presume they have a few guys in uniform. But the Germans walked right in during WWII. I don't think they've done much of anything since. They have some people who are willing to fight. The French resistance were pretty effective in helping the Allies. But the French military... I cannot recall ever hearing of them. If my surmise is correct, as long as you didn't invade France, Australia could probably take them just about anywhere.
But the point is moot. France seems to be pretty isolationist at present. I don't think they'd go outside their borders to attack anything.
However, in fairness, I think you need a French perspective.

To be honest, I don't think the RAAF or the RAN could keep up with the technologically superior French military. In such a situation, our only hope of success lies in whether or not the submarine service could pull off a major upset underwater, and if the French would actually deploy their infantry in a fair fight.
The Australian Defence Force isn't built for conventional wars with major military powers so close to home.

And no, the French military are just as likely to surrender as Americans are - the Battle of France was a short but messy engagement, and the bloodiest battle of the war for a very long time. If they were to surrender to us right now, I'd expect the Americans to surrender in their next major war like they did in the Battle of the Philippines - with relatively minor casualties on both sides too, might I add.

France leading an attack of another nation, you must have been dreaming. Frnce hasn't been a formidable miltary force since the colonial days of the 1800's. However, the scenario you mention is not realistic at all.
