- Eliminate the 10 Year limit on the G.I. Bill
- Increase options on the doctors your allowed to go to, I know way too many people who've had screwed up surgeries from incompetent doctors.
- Cultural training for the AO before you actually attack it.
- Keep military decisions in the hands of the military
- Hold the media responsible for inaccurate reporting of individual soldiers; this means sue the SOBs for lying
- Vast increase in post war planning; I believe whole-heartily that Iraq could of been a peaceful place if after the fall of Saddam we overtook all security, sealed the borders tight and made a leap in removing all Iraqi ordinance.
- Fix the problem that allows ignorant people to believe the military is killing civilians in "cold-blood."
- More combat pay and more hazardous duty pay
- Remove the bureaucracy of receiving mission essential supplies
- More commitment to military engagements by politicians; either you're 100% in or 100% out, there is no middle ground, you cannot play the "I support the troops but not the war" card and then remove their funding for mission essential gear. You can be pro troop/anti-war, but as long as there's a war you cannot leave your troops without any ability to conduct that war
And to the gentlemen named Sky; I have seen my share of dead innocent Iraqis I never pulled the trigger/detonator/switch.
When we leave there will be a lot more dead innocent Iraqis, say what you want about me, but don't act like you give a **** about the Iraqi people.

To address the issue of the boots: she gets a yearly clothing allowance. That is more than adequate to cover the cost for new boots. I served 8 yrs and I bought a new pair every two yrs. If I am not mistaken it was about $430 a yr on the anniversary of going to boot. As far as the medical portion of your question..... Yes, I agree that military medical is sub-standared, but it is good. They are not doing an X-ray for a reason that she may not be telling you. It is highly unlikely that they would NOT do an x-ray, so there is something else going on here. They do not issue vests if you are not in a combat zone. They only people who have bullet-proof vests are the MA (military police) and those who volunteer to take up some slack for those hard working individuals. If she wants to go to a civilian doctor then she needs to get a referral. She is entitled to a second opinion, but she needs to go through the proper channels to achive that. I think that you need to sit down w/ your daughter and discuss this in more detail. The hospital will not do x-rays unless she is pregnant or if there was an exit wound. I really wish her luck .

Pay us more. We lose too many good Soldiers because of financial reasons. Make a military salary that makes it attractive to stay in the military.
Find a way to reduce the OPTEMPO. We also lose too many Soldiers from our ranks because the deployment schedule is too aggressive. I read once that, while we have Soldiers deploying to a combat zone for their third and fourth time, we still have close to half the Army that has not deployed into theater. If we figure out how to even out that load, the deployment schedule wouldn't be so tough.
We have the best equipment in the world, now we need to figure out how to keep the best men and women in the military.

Make military operations run by the military and not by stuck up politicians that just send our brothers to die on some stupid half planned mission just to score points with the public.
Remember failed rescue mission in Iran that caused several "special forces" members to lose their lives because the president wanted to look cool saving all those people. And just said "go rescue em now" without listening to any advise from the military. Everyone knew it was fubar but hey he's the president what he says goes.

Body armor should be issue and not an out of pocket expense. Especially for the most underpaid, hardest working people in existence. Increased pay and medical needs to be improved.

- Implement one set of fitness standards that everyone must reach, regardless of age or gender
- Allow women to apply for combat roles if they meet the requirements
- Turn down people from enlistment if they are trying to join for financial reasons or don't show a keen interest in the military lifestyle
- Equip all Reserve Forces with equipment equal to active duty soldiers - there's no reason for them to operate old howitzers and outdated APCs

Triple the pay. Medical care for soldiers and family for life. Insurance benefits, $100,000 Housing allowance benefits, no charge for college for all military and their families.
Preferential hiring treatment. (Military men make better employees anyway!). 4 weeks per year paid vacation.
This will improve the military.

Second chance flexible body armour would be a start. And holding the NCOs, espacially the higher ups, responsible for their decisions. Oh and quit it with the stop loss policy, its killing moral!

Increase pay so mid-career enlisted don't jump ship for higher paying civilian careers.
