Does anyone know what kind of training one is given in the U.S. Special Forces? Also, how long would a typical enlistment period be for Special Forces, both for enlisted and officers?

My husband and I live outside of a military base where there seems to be gang related activity. The police do not patrol out here and its kind of scary. We had no idea we were moving into a place like this. In the daytime it seemed so nice.

People say that the tags that have just went up have something to do with the Crips.

Is there somewhere I can go for help or advice on base? The police don't want to take time to talk to me.

I know where the people who did the tagging live they have cars coming and going all the time.

Its scary to think that my husband could go somewhere and I could be left here all alone. Everyone else in the neighborhood is worried too, and people do not want to talk about it.

There must be something that can be done or someone who can help me or that I can go to for advice if my husband is gone....

I'm considering going into the army through ROTC and becoming an officer, but from what I've heard from most military people I know (retired NCOs, the majority of them), that officers are alwase far from the action, and when they are around during combat, nobody wants to have an officer watching their back because 'your shure to die'. Is that true? Do officers ever get involved as far as fighting in combat situations?

Only thing Black Water does is kill civilians, no regard to anyone. Not enough Black Water Operators killed in my opinion. Black Water starts more fights in Iraq goes around looking for trouble.

Fight for them, run into the deep woods until it's over, or would you rather contribute to the soliders that are wounded by helping them heal? Why?

Do soldiers just get to go home and wait around until the rest of their troop gets back, or are they sent back to base after they recover and temporarily reassigned?

In a recent article featured by Yahoo!, it was stated that the Iraqi government wanted to expel the private contracting company called 'Blackwater USA'. It also stated that this would deal a crucial blow to the Coalition in its attempt to rebuild the country, due to the fact that Blackwater provided protection for diplomats, engineers, and other personnel. Should these companies be subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice? (UCMJ), and should they be controlled by the military while in supporting roles, or should they be allowed to work freely and take over positions previously held by the US Military?

I am really close friends with a Marine who is serving in Iraq. We have known eachother for almost ten years and were extremely close during his last vacation.

I write him letters, e-mails, and send cards all of the time. He very seldomly writes back, but he does read all of the things that I send. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to why he doesn't write back often? It has been months at a time, but when he does write back, he writes very nice things.

Ok, I know I've asked this question before, but I'm still confused about what to do. I want to join the army sometime soon, but I don't know if I should go to college first to become an officer or just go in enlisted. I don't really know what I want to do career-wise yet, so I was thinking that maybe it would be best to go in as an enlisted, but what do you think? There was also a part of me that was thinking about making the army my career. What do you think? Army or college? Thanks.
