I am a female thinking of going into the navy after graduating college next year with a BS in psychology. Does anyone have any advice on this matter one way or the other?

I am an old Air Force man myself. My brother was a Navy Man. I dont know why you have chosen he Navy, but both are good for women careers. When you decide to go, be sure and take all exams and agree only to Officer Training, and you will be commissioned an Ensign in the Navy, or if you go Air Force you will start as 2nd Lt. With your college education, dont accept anything less than that. Sometimes recruiters will tell you that all slots for officers are full at that time, and try to tell you to go ahead and enlist in the regular ranks. dont do that. tell him you will wait for a slot for Officer Training School. Your career will be rewarding. Good Luck! P>S> as an Officer, every career field is open to you if you qualify, even pilot training.

I thought about the Navy and the Air Force after high school. I decided to remain civilian, but the Air Force seemed like the better deal. Especially for females. Either way though, you are probably going to run into hard noses who don't think women should be in the military.

I really enjoyed being in the Navy, they were some great times. Yea, the AF has some of the better amenities, but I wouldn't have gone anything but Navy... Any branch of service will treat you just fine. Good Luck!

Well, two parts...

One. An acquaintance went in the navy, got pregnant twice out of wedlock, and was discharged early on grounds of hardship...BAH!

Two. ANY branch of service would be an honorable and worthy choice...be it for a short term or long (retirement). Go for it. However, my advice would be Coast Guard...please, give this branch some consideration.

Good luck!

You can't beat being a navy officer, particularly for a woman. If you can do it, you should. I recommend it.....!

Sexual harassment happens in the navy. Period. My cousin was in desert storm and she never went to the bathroom alone, and she's 6,1!!!!!!!
