The tension between Turkey and Kurdish terror group PKK has accelerated since last February. Turkey has deployed their troops to the Iraqi border and stationing them for next order. The United States of America and Turkey have been allies for 50 years. Should America help Turks to stop Kurdish rebels or let Turkish troops to sort out things by themselves?

He broke that vow and was the leader of the revolting arny.

After all the political and military commentary of the sixties and seventies relating to the systemic reasons why we losss Vietnam and howt never get in a similar situation again, we went out of our way to get in exactly the same situatio again. They're already drawing up probable scenarios of an evacuation that will start out controlled and spill over into utter madness and total break down, with every man fighting for himself to get on anything that fly's out of Baghdad.

Lost on 30th April 1975. Not easy to admit they lost. Maybe the Vietnam Vets of yesterday can help the Iraqi vets when they lose the Iraqi war.

I am being pressured by a friend to name a single war we have wona aginst a foreign army or in a foreing land. He claims that we lost every single war, and WWII doesnt count because we entered the fight when the rest of the world has already been decimated after 5 years of fight. I could not come up with any satisfactory answer, except accusing him of being unpatriotic for doubting America's might and nobel causes. Is there any rational answer that I could use instead? Please advice.

Let's get this straight. No one spit on the troops. No one. I came home twice from over seas between 1969 and 1975 and not one person spit on me. For some reason the Vietnam Vets like to tell all who will listen they were spit upon. Spitting never happened. This is an urban Legend. Lies! No one would be rude enough to walk up and spit. Now do you understand no one was spit upon?

I think we should give this new plan some time to see if it can succeed. Pulling out now seems to me to be a disastrous idea. I think there are some signs that the "surge" is working (at least in Baghdad). Sure, the Iraqi government is a mess, but what else could we reasonably expect? We created this mess - are we now going to pack up and say "you fix it" to these people? I think the reputation of the US is shot, and that every third rate power is going to see that we're vulnerable. That doesn't make for a safer world.

This is just least optimistic figure, optimistic figure may reach 300.000 iraqis killed by US.

So many bloodshed.........

Are 5000 killed in WTC worth 180.000 killed iraqis?

Does that mean iraqis live has less value than US citizen life?

Suppose Pres. Bush orders a nuclear war, will you obey his orders and explode those nuclear bombs? The President is the commander-in-chief for war. Americans are the actual fighters.

I can see why the military would be a desirable career for them as it offers job security, ongoing training, the chance to learn practical skills and so on. But I'm curious as to why this type of recruit is advantageous to the 'employer' as opposed to more mature, brighter and better educated candidates.

In the US Army, what's the difference between the "Captain" title and any other rank? I tried looking for it but I didn't see any rank of "Captain" in the charts.

Is it possible for a "Captain" to be any rank in the Army?
