Yes. We've already shown how we can pour trillions of dollars down one more rat hole. Consider how many trillions of dollars we've spent, just on these "jokes":
Department of Homeland Security
War On Drugs
Star Wars
Iran-Contra Affair
Clinton's Impeachment Proceedings
Watergate Investigation
War On Terror
Vietnam War
Gulf War of 1991 - Desert Storm
Current Iraqi War
Countless 'Pork" projects and earmarks
If it weren't so tragic, it WOULD be a "joke". -RKO- 07/10/07

The stakes are higher in the War on Terror. But if those calling for retreat get in office, it could turn into the bumper sticker they claim it to be.
No American truly knows poverty. Our welfare recipients often live lives of greater luxury than politicians do in other countries. Poverty definitely doesn't include TV, playstations and microwaves. Poverty is 4 tin walls and a leaky roof over something you call a bed and your two sets of clothes.
Drugs are so profitable that someone will always step in to take the risk of imprisonment to make the money.
Ignorance is refusing to believe that our current enemy desires to kill you for no other reason than you aren't willing to kill me. Ignorance is believing that if you just leave the bad man alone, he'll turn into a nice guy.

How is the war on drugs working out for America, not to good is it the sooner the DEA,gets a handle on one way drugs are coming into this country illegally the traffickers find another way to sneak them into this country, look how many tunnels leading from California, and Texas, from Mexico, the DEA,and ICE,have found I have counted four so far this year and according to there reports there are a lot of them out there so how do you think they are doing?
And as for the war on terror well lets see Illegal wire tapping by our own federal government on innocent Americans,a dirt bad attorney general who keeps lying through his teeth at all these hearings that nothing is going on illegally when it comes to surveillance of terrorists or suspected terrorists put it that, way the FBI,getting illegal information and not reporting it to the proper agency in charge of the over sight of the operation so how do you think they are managing things you just asked?

Both deal with border security. The war on drugs has failed and the billions spent attempting to stop and incarcerate would've been better spent on education and prevention.
The war on terror is being lost due to political power grabbing our system needs to be revamped.
This is the USA and we if united could accomplish anything.

As long as the Far left is allowed to dictate policy yes.
If we have to spend all our time learning how not to hurt the enemies feelings or doing endless surveys on what effect we are having rather than getting the job done, then yes it will be equally pointless.
Get emotion and feelings out o the equation, end the debate, pay the money and let the work get done, then discuss how you feel about it.
