Most military recruits are working class youths with average intelligence and low educational attainments..?

I can see why the military would be a desirable career for them as it offers job security, ongoing training, the chance to learn practical skills and so on. But I'm curious as to why this type of recruit is advantageous to the 'employer' as opposed to more mature, brighter and better educated candidates.

Most US presidents (except draft dodger Clinton) were in the military, most corporate CEO's were military. Most military recruits eventually finish college thanks to the military.

Saying insults at military people llike you did is like saying that most college recruits are aimless kids of average imtellegence.

I know that you cannot be talking about my Country's Military,
first, most attend college when they get to permanent station, While all officers have a college education, 95 percent of the NCO Corps has one too, You must have a Degree in order to achieve the senior NCO level, But this is for mostly career soldiers.
As far as employers go, the military gives you a good strong work ethic, But for you to say that there are brighter and better educated candidates is only your ego talking, why dont you sign up, the military is always looking for brighter and better educated candidates too, Hey, you sound like officer material

Its the same as trying to teach someone to shoot that allready thinks they know how. They have bad habits that need breaking. Best privates I ever had were straight outta high school right through basic and AIT and then to me. You can train them from the ground up and make them into what the mission needs. The more mature "brighter" and "better educated" folks you speak of are the officers, trained to make the decisions. We here in the enlisted side are the heavy lifters, our job is to carry out missions and follow orders. That just the way of the army. And its been working for hundreds of years so I figure its not too bad of a system.

I should know I worked there. All the controllers are enlisted with E-3' at the scope. What's your educational background? Let me guess spoiled little rich boy given anything you asked for. The average IQ in the military is 5 points higher than society in general. The average recruit is an upper middle class white male.

In Australia, your typical young high school graduate (or even less, although trying to enlist without completing high school is highly discouraged) is a good candidate for a combat job (except perhaps a special forces entry scheme). They're usually more adventurous and eager to do such work.

Older, experienced people will have a basic idea of what they're getting into. They'll go for a support job that'll pay off well in the future. Driving a truck, fixing electronics, carpentry, flying a helicopter. As little pack-marching and dirt slogging as possible.

Mind you, it's not true in every case. I've seen masters degree graduates serve as infantry privates.

You are wrong. You have described a stereotype that does not exist. If you check the stats, you will find that recruits come from all walks of life. Over 90% are high school graduates, way better than the general population. Most of the officer corps have college degrees, either through military schools or ROTC.
The military still gets to choose the best of those who apply. The average soldier is better than the average American.

i take offence to that there are people in our military who have educations from aa degrees to bas to masters degrees and need i remind you oh narrowminded one that it takes a college degree a be a pilot in the military and flight school as well to fly 40 million doller aircraft everyday and in battle they arent going to let just anyone in that cockpit buddy and by the way your the one who is narrowminded and has low intelligence and low educationl goals id like to see you have the balls big enough to do what these men and woman do everyday you cant you know why you dont have the heart big enough to wear that uniform with pride and make the sacrafices these brave men and woman make not only for there country but there famlies and for our freedom!!!!!!
