Finish HS. Thats first and foremost. From there, military reserves is probably a good idea. You will learn a lot and gain discipline to keep you out of trouble in college. But also live your life. If you are being recruited by Michigan, go there and maybe do military later. If you are going to Northeastern Western Central State University of the City of the North, maybe do sports if you think it will be fun and do NG as well. The school will probably not have a huge problem with it and NG is reservist schedule so both would be manageable. I almost joined the Army out of high school and didnt, went to University. I am now 26 and have graduated law school but i wish I would have done Army out of HS and postponed college. I always wanted to serve, now im $125k in debt and can't afford to serve, except as JAG possibly.

help me out a little , your 16 and wanna join the National Guard but your screen name says young Marine e-3?

You can play sports in the military as well. You have to technically wait till you are 18 but if your parents sign a waiver you can go in at 17

Good luck

First thing, you need to be seventeen to enlist. Ask for the college first option. This guarantees that you won't get deployed your first two years after high school. Second, attempt to get as many college scholarships as possible. I was on the track team at my college where I got a book scholarship. That plus g.i. bill plus federal tuition through the guard adds up to a lot of money for college.

If you are really good at your sport and belive you can go far then go to college to play sports. But to go far you must go to a preatty good college.

but

If your not great at your sport and your thinking about going to a very small college, don't waste your time. Go into the Coast Gaurd or Air Force.....

You cant.

You can enlist w/ PARENTAL APPROVAL, they have to sign on the dotted line right beside you; when your 17.
18+, you can do w/e the Hell you want.
Good Luck

Look into a program called ROTC, its for people who want to serve and go to college. You go to college, the Army will pay for it, and then after you have your degree you get put as a Second Lieutenant Officer in the Army.
