My boyfriend and I have been dating for a little over a year now, but have been in each other's lives for much longer. He just recently joined the Army again, and is due to begin Special Forces selection this upcoming September. We have talked about marriage and are planning on getting engaged within the next year. However, he wants me to make sure I know exactly what I'm getting myself into. I'm just curious to see how other women are handling or have handled being married to or dating a Special Forces Soldier, if anyone has any examples or advice I am happy to hear it! I realize that he may not make it through selection and the phases thereafter, however, I'm just trying to gain a perspective on the type of lifestyle which could be in my future. And regardless of what happens, I plan on marrying this man, that has never been a doubt in my mind, would just like to hear of other people's stories... thanks!

Do you think it's screwed up for a professional warfighter to want a fight? Should he change his outlook on life and be peaceful? Or are some people just born for war?

I am enlisting into the US army active duty as an infantryman soldier. Do I have a say what division I will end up in? If I go airborne do I have a say if I be put in the 82nd or 101rst? If I stay strictly infantry do I have a say if i get put in the 10th Mountain... or the "Big Red One" 1rst infantry, or the 2nd, 3rd, etc?? What will happen to me after basic training and where will I go...?

My main goal is to become an airborne Ranger. I know I have to do airborne to even be able to go to Ranger school, but If I dont pass Ranger school am I then stuck in an airborne division? Or can I still be in a normal Infantry division and just have a nice airborne pin....

Do NOT give me bull **** about dieng, or being foolish or anything...

A soldier recently died in Iraq. He was from my city, my friend knew him for 10 years, now the westboro baptist church is planning to picket his funeral. Who in their right mind would picket a dead soldiers funeral with signs that read "Thank God for dead soldiers", "Soldiers die God laughs" God is all caring, I do not believe he rejoices in the death of people. Just think of how the family of this dead soldier would feel when they go outside and see these heartless jerks picketing his funeral. So anyone got some good ideas I can do to stop these sick bastards spread of hate. I guess when westboro started their little cult they forgot all about "love thy neighbor"

As a Veteran of war, I can honestly say,our troops are getting killed everyday, for no reason other than Bush's stupidity.they don't want us there, the terrorist's will always be there, and if you send them to war, let them fight. like it's a war.
