It depends on the school. Some schools are set up to prepare students to be more successful in careers in the military. Some are known as good places to make friends and contacts for later adult success.
Usually military schools have very strict discipline and rules which must be followed. Some students might see that as mean and some would see it as comfortable since they like rules to be clear.
Often military schools have strict dress codes (uniforms) and have clear schedules.
Sometimes parents send their children to military school because they went to one or because they think that such training will help their child succeed in later life.
Unfortunately, sometimes parents may send their children to military school because they see them as being out of control or because they have given up on trying to provide structure for their children themselves. Sometimes this works, but sometimes what the child needs is a treatment center or some other kind of help.
If you are being sent to a military school, try to look at it as a positive experience. Your parents are paying good money to give you an opportunity. You can make life-long friends and very learn valuable skills. You will have to accept that you are not going to be treated like a weak baby and will not be coddled. Everybody has to learn this to grow up to be a successful adult, but it isn't easy to grow up. Try not to see it as a rejection by your parents. Nobody has a child and says, "Now how can I mess this child up?" Parents do have their own limits and problems, and sometimes they just have to do the best that they can.
If you can show respect, you will be respected in time. You may start at the bottom, but you can learn how to work yourself to a higher position.
Like most anything else, military school can be a positive experience if you make it one. If you have to go there, make up your mind that you will use the time there to become the best you that you can be.
Remember that the purpose of boot camp is to keep soldiers from getting killed in battle. The treatment may seem mean, but teaching someone to be a success in hard times is really a deep kindness.
And if you are angry, remember that success is the best revenge!

Shock is the impression during the reception into a military academy. If you are brave, you will feel nothing and prepare for the worst by exercises with mental stability under pressure.
