.The are no medics in the marine corps. we us the navy for all of are medical needs. You don't need a medical degree to be a navy corpsman just enlist into that mos. unless you want to be a surgeon in the navy than that's different i believe you do need a medical degree for that.

You do not join the medical corps as a doctor unless you are a doctor and have passed your boards. This requires 8 years of school. 4 undergrad and 4 medical school. There is no short cut for this. The Navy has scholarships for medical school for those who have finished their 4 years undergrad and who have been accepted to medical school. If you get the scholarship, you are paid as an O-1 to O-2. You are required to do some military training during your summers off from med school. When you graduate and pass your boards, you come in as an O-3. You have to do some "basic" training for Navy docs. You are then assigned to a residency and you then serve between 6 to 8 years of active duty. You can either continue on active duty or you can go into the reserves as a drilling reserve or You can go through medical school through the Navy via a scholarship. The Army and Air Force both offer this. I also worked in a medical school and understand what is needed. I read that the poster thinks that he can join the medical corps right out of high school and become a doctor. You cannot do that unless you are a doctor. Also, if NASA is still around, if he was a Naval Doctor, he could apply to be a flight surgeon and go to NASA. a big chunk of NASA crew members come from the Navy.

The Marines use Navy Corpsmen as their medics.

If you want to serve in the Fleet Marine Force, then Join the Navy and get HM in your contract. as a Male, you will most definitely be going to FMSS. Whether or not you Go Greenside is up to the needs of the military after you finish A school.

You can join the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, which is basically a medic. Although if you'd need a license or degree to become a full nurse or doctor in the Navy (both of which are officers, I believe).

Wow I ? that I can actually answer. My husband just reenlisted as a MEDIC in January. You would have to go thru basic training of course. If you decided to go Army I know that there training is at Ft. sam Houston I cannot remember how long it is but my husband was away for almost 4 months but they were trying to make the course shorter. He is now in a Infantry unit as a Sniper Medic and he loves it. If you have any ?? you can email me and he would be glad to answer them. You do not need a degree unless you decided to be a PA which would require you to be a officer and I cannot help you with any of that my husband is a Sgt.
