Try in any way you can to contact these guys -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patriot_Guard_Riders or their official website here - http://www.patriotguard.org/.
They are like the anti-Westboro group. Most if not all are Vets too.
I hope you can do something. Those f**kers are evil. If it wasn't for the little kids they drag along they would probably all be shot by now.

Just goes to show that religious intolerance, on their part, is something that we no longer have to suffer. They recently lost a court ruling for them to have to pay 10 or 12 million dollars to the family of a soldier, who's funeral they picketed. I am pretty sure that if there is enough pressure from the police and say ......... the local motor cycle "club" I am certain they will leave the area :) When my unit got back from Iraq they had been picketing at Ft Campbell for a few days. When along happened the local chapters of the VFW, Dav, and believe it or not the ACLU! They were politely told to leave before any trouble happened. Which it was averted by simply having a guard posted across the road from them and the anti-protesters doing a fabulous job of heckling them. All in all the soldiers at the time on post were basically ordered to not do "anything rash" . These people are no longer protected under the Freedom of Speech act. As proved by the ruling against them last year. So feel free to get rich and sue the crap out of them. And if you cant do that send me an e-mail if you get arrested I will bail you out.

I agree with nathan. Find a local motorcycle club or vet group in the area. I read in an article of this biker crew held u.s. flags during the funeral of a soldier to block the view of protesters, after the funeral the bikers escorted the family home. Dont do anything violent. That's how these groups get funded, they will file a lawsuit for any damages and take you and the city to court. Good luck.

I have alot of hate for these people and can't wait until they are extinct! I live in KS near Fort Riley and they picket there all the time even if for no reason. Don't try anything towards them because they themselves know all of the laws, etc. If I were you, call the patriot guard and all of your local motorcylce riders to have them line the streets going to the funeral. Have everyone line up and hold an American Flag. There isn't much you can do to stop them, my advice is to show your patriotic side, and get ALOT of people to do it along with you. The patriot guard and other helpers might even be able to line up to kind of block the members of that hell church. It hurts, they will get theirs someday.

I'm just so sad reading your story. How come people can say dead soldier to such hush words? I just don't get it. He was a someones son, brother, husband or dad. He lost life. ... They don't think LIFE is not precious to them? My opinion, soldier don't start War. President Bush did and soldiers are doing what they told even they know they may die. I can guess how his family felt while he was deployed because my husband was one of first to go to the war and the hardest good -by I ever experienced in my life ( also for our 3 kids). Kids couldn't handle missing their dad and often cried. They have no idea how much families suffer. I hope you can do something for them for his family and he was a lucky man to have had a friend like you.

Go to the cops and ask to have them present. They can keep them at a certain distance. Find out if it's illegal for them to protest Military funerals in your state...if so; tell the family to sue them for all they're worth! Also, there is a motorcycle gang of former Military that makes it a point to follow them around. They'll line their bikes up in front of them so they are as invisible as possible and when the funeral procession comes through they rev their engines so the passerby don't hear them chanting; see if you can find out if they'll be there. They've been here a few times; but fortunately never at a memorial service I've personally attended. They're utterly despicable...make me want to introduce their head to the other end of a base ball bat.

Let about five dozen eggs rot in the hot sun then pelt them with the eggs shortly before the funeral starts, they'll want to leave pretty quick.

contact your local Patriot Riders I am sure that you heard of them they started out small bt now they are everywhere I live in Kansas and they have 4 or 5 chapters here. they form that small barricade in front of the protestors so people can mourn. It is a shame that your town has to put up with this.

they are free to protest and you and 10 of your friends are free to walk in line amongst them.
i would seriously consider bribing the police to be an hour late for the funeral so that you can have a 'chat' with those monsters.
