Iraq is in the middle of a civil war that will drag on for many more years. Our soldiers are getting killed by the thousands, their families are suffering their loss, financial ruins, etc. Congress and the senate want them home. The only one that wants them to suffer in Iraq seems to be Bush. What's HIS PROBLEM???

Reading a lot of stuff on here about the captured British soldiers, most people's answer to the crisis seems to be 'Nuke em! Bomb them back to the stone age!'

Do you really think this is the best option? Just because of the actions of a few corrupt officials in the Iranian government you want to destroy an entire country, killing millions of innocent people?

Let's say our government kidnapped some foreign soldiers... would their country then be justified in bombing our entire nation and killing all of us?!

I strongly believe that our family and friends have been over there way too long and there is no reason why the President should keep them over there any longer. Our men and women are now dying for no reason. The problems have been solved for a while now, so why keep them over there?

Would it solve the anti social behaviour that is blighting our society today. Is it time to let the army deal with the good the bad and the downright ugly and instill a little discipline in young people?

What did you do when you were sent to bootcamp? Were you in shape, out of shape?

I plan on being a U.S Marine. Should I prepare myself? Should I teach myself to be a good swimmer, a good runner and a good marksman etc?

Including the Pentagon/CIA) budget, Afghanistan, Iraq, all the Bases we have around the world, amendments later added, Veteran Pensions, Funerals, Insurance for the surviving Families, Operations and care for the cripples, protection for Haliburton, and so one. Does anybody know, where that can be located. I heard it was somewhere around 1,2 Trillion for 2006.

In my studies of Vietnam, former soldiers are bitter about the interference of non-expert civilians, such as (former USAAF officer) Robert S McNamara. Yet I never hear a peep about the fact that those who originated, planned and prosecute the Iraq war [Rumsfeld, Perle, Wolfowitz, Cheney, Bush] are Washington bureaucrats, very detached from the real world and UTTERLY detached from the military. And this very lack of expertise is the reason for the loss of direction and lack of a strategy. If the reason for the different attitude isn't political, what is it?

They called me asking donations, care packages to the troops. I would not give the troops the time of day let alone any care packages, I rather help the insurgents if I could and do pray they win the fight instead of our troops under our malevolent liar President Bush, and it really angers me they call and beg of me when I am on the no call list, what a bunch of loosers. I told them to f-off, I told them I dont support the troops at all and instead I write letters to them counter support. Is there any way I can sue the Navy for asking me to support the troops with these pitifull beg for support calls?

Dont fund them, refuse to fund them, fund only the cost of their return with funds specifically earmarked only for withdraw.
Bush lied and still lies, these men in the White House are insane and work only for the oil and securities industries. We do not support this war in Iraq, we do not support war against Iran even if they develop waepons of mass destruction, even if they develop them with missles to reach america and even if they annihilate the nation the nations set up to be Israel, we promote american isolation and defense of our borders and ability to annihilate the entire world if we are attacked and loosing. Few americans trust , respect or obey the federal or other authorities in our nation any more period.

Did we announce over the radio "We will be finishing the war by 1945, whether we win or not"? I don't think we did.

And even if we did, it wouldn't have been that bad, because Hitler wouldn't have know. In this day and age, any "insurgent" in Iraq can turn on CNN from a satellite and see that we are leaving Iraq in March 31 of next year.

Then they can just tell their buddies "lay low until next April 1". That's good, it will give them a whole year to think of how to revenge against America.

Good thing we didn't tell Hitler "Hey, we are leaving Germany by 1945, win or lose". I am sure that wouldn't have done any damage at ALL, right?

NOW do you Libs see what the problem is?

I know a lot of people are upset by the new bill to slowly remove troops from Iraq . . .but what I fail to understand is this . . . Why have they not proposed a bill to counter the withdrawal? Wouldn't it make sense to propose a bill outlining how the US could win the war in eighteen months? If you know of a counter bill that details a winning strategy let me know.

We must learn from the lessons of history. When that fool Neville Chamberlain believed he could appease Hitler and it would stop him, look how that turned out. The Iranians have refused to stop enriching Uranium despite overwhelming international demand, and now they illegally seize 15 Britons. Is it time we stop showing weakness and do the right thing and stand up and fight? or should we remain cowards and continue appeasing the enemies of the civilized world?

Maude: What kind of flower would you like to be?
Harold: I don't know. One of these, maybe.(points to a huge bed of daisies)
Maude: Why do you say that?
Harold: Because they're all alike.
Maude: Oh, but they're NOT! Look. See, some are smaller; some are
fatter; some grow to the left, some to the right; some even have lost
some petals. All kinds of observable differences! You see, Harold, I
feel that much of the world's sorrow comes from people who are *this*,(points to one daisy)
yet allow themselves to be treated as *that*. (points to the huge bed of daisies)

Question for a friend who wants to join a Challenger 2 (UK) Cavalry Regiment:

Do heavy tanks (eg Challengers, not recon vehicles) operate singly on an operation or as part of a larger unit (in the field)- and how are they applied on today's battlefield?

Also, should a crew have to abandon their tank in the field, do they have personal small arms with which to defend themselves- and if so do they get rifles or only hand guns?

Thanks!
