This is probably a waste of time but..

1. The US dropping A-bombs on Japan ultimately saved lives
2. The US 1. Never lied about WMD; the UN were the ones who said they were there, and 2. Many have been found, others were shipped to Syria before the war.
3. We should have dropped more bombs on both Laos and Vietnam
4. It would have taken us a month just to get enough troops in there. That genocide simply could not have been stopped.
5. There are terrorists in many places, and we have not taken any of Iraq's oil since the war began (Though we should)
6. Iran wants nuclear weapons, because it will give them a bargaining chip. Only an idiot would think they don't
7. carbon "footprints" are meaningless and more of the power for Las Vegas comes from "clean": energy sources than any other city in the world. (Hoover dam, solar power etc.)

I completely agree with you, and I'm American.

As you can see by all the other American answers here,
Americans can be some of the most self-righteous, self-centered, arrogant, insensitive, uncritical, ignorant, unsympathetic people on the face of the planet.

However, I must say that, since they are surrounded by 2 oceans, gulp up the mass mainstream media & propaganda and think it is Truth, barely ever leave the country and live abroad (because nowhere else is good enough for them), and revel that they live on the richest & most powerful country on earth... they have serious mental difficulties when it comes to seeing themselves & their country from the rest of the world's perspective.

To them, Might Is Still Right, which is why the right-wing always relies on military might, and is willing to spend 50% of the federal budget on it, and engage in invasions & wars on every continent for the past century. Truly a humanitarian, peace-loving country we are.

They claim National Interest is most important - well, it is no longer the time for national interest alone. Americans need to also prioritize World Interest, if there is ever going to be a chance for peace on this planet. We are all citizens of the Earth, and should consider ourselves as such First, and then citizens of our own country Second.

The fact that most Americans do NOT think this way, is why they show a lack of concern for anybody else when they pollute the Earth or invade other countries.

The moral leadership we show as a superpower is disgraceful & dishonorable. Since America refuses to wake up from its hypnotic Alice in Wonderland existence, I encourage the rest of the world to wake up & boycott America.

Well that's one interpretation I guess, but let's examine those contentions shall we.

1) Japan - It was a war and an invasion of the Japanese mainland would have been extremely costly in terms of lives lost on both sides. I always enjoy the clueless who choose to ignore the fact that we warned Japan prior to using the bomb, then warned them again prior to use of the second. In both cases they refused to surrender, but I guess acknowledging this simple fact doesn't fit well with the I hate America agenda.

2) Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, this is a proven fact and denials to the contrary are just silly and hollow. Now I will admit we didn't find massive stockpiles after the invasion, but it does not change the realities about the existence and use of these weapons.

3) Absolutely we dropped bombs on Laos. Again, this was a war and the enemy was using this terrirtory as a safe haven. As to the total tonage dropped I don't have those numbers so I won't even bother to address this on that level.

4) Where was the rest of the world on this? Where is it written that the United States is the world's police force. Another ever so amusing comparison. We are terrible for acting in Iraq, but villians for not acting in Africa. You can't have it both ways, but too many in the world thing they can. It's just another damned if we do, damned if we don't double standard.

5) I hate to break the news to you, but we are still in Afghanistan. As for the question of Oil being traded in Euros, maybe true, maybe not, but either way it lacks the basis of actual proof to support it.

6) Iran is accused by most of the world of enriching urainium for weapons production, not peaceful nuclear power ambitions. This is not only our contention, but that of the United Nations. Nice try, but it's just a weak you're bad, but we will ignore everyone else who states the same contention because we only hate Americans ploy.

7) Please, have you taken a look a China and India lately. Want meaningful reform regarding emmissions try addressing all nations with an even and equal assessment followed by an adaquate standard for all. Your contention is not based on fact here, but rather supposition which established fact disputes. However, I will grant you we use alot of power in this country, but I love Las Vegas none the less.

We absolutely act in our own best interests and will continue to do so. To do anything less would be madness. Just take your own post as an example. Your expressed level of distaste and use of falsehoods to support your case shows that I could not trust your mindset to look out for my best interests. Now could I?

One minute your saying they shouldn't invade people then you say they done wrong by standing by and not invading it seems you have no opinions whatsoever of your own and have just gathered together a collection of complete drivel from this site and lumped them all together.Any real American reading this question is going to consider you a moron not worth responding to.I'm English by the way I hope you're some kind of immigrant because I wouldn't like to be associated with you.Everybody tries to do whats right for themselves its a fact of life.

Oh come on, now I know I'm not America's no.1 fan, but all countries are the same, looking out for their own best interests. Even the good old UK. Sad I know, but true.

Every country on the planet acts primarily in its own national interest. I wouldn't vote for a politician who didn't.
I'm not American

yes we do take care of what we think is good for our country, but we are not the only guilty people on the planet, look at cambodia where the Pol killed millions of his own countrymen, we didnt do it, why didnt britan stop that. the bomb that was dropped on Japan was to stop the war, and if we really wanted to we could of not involved ourselves in the war in europe and just concentrate on Japan, so you should be lucky we came and saved your a**, next time we should just let england go at it by themselves
