In a war such as the Iraq war and the total negative media coverage... Why there were only 15 troops backing themselves in possible unfriendly waters?

We have the technology on aircraft carriers to seek, recognize and destroy incoming jets, missiles, ships, torpedoes, and everything else, but these troops didn't have the technology to know they are being perused in war territory?

Also, with the suspicion of Iran funding and helping terrorists across the Iraqi boarder... How the hell did they even get into these Iraqi waters?

further, does not Iran have a right to protect itself from the illegal and aggressive incursions into their territory over the past year by teh British and Americans in an effort to prepare for an illegal attack upon it? Have not the Iranians demonstrated for the whole world just how weak and impotent the British have become?

Carter showed us what the Democrat's 444 days of negotiations do for us. Most of you kids were not old enough to remember how we were convinced that we were to be ashamed of our country and we deserved to have innocent hostages taken. After all we were the bully. Carter's ways made Ted Koppel and Nightline a household name. One day at a time he came on the TV every evening saying "Day 23"... Then it was "Day 127"... on and on. Not one single house would fly an American flag unless a Vet lived there. You didn't see an American flag sticker on cars, much less in stores to be sold to patriotic Americans. We were ashamed. It was all our fault as Carter convinced us.

Here's my point. When is the last time you heard of a navy ship being sunk in battle? The real brave are the pilots off the carriers, and lst's etc etc. they actually go into the battle zone. But the rest are like stewrads or office guys far far away from any danger. They dont deserve the same pay scale, especially compared to the ground soldiers! Sure they use the ships to soften up targets, but absolutely no danger to those on board. Lets cut their pay for personell on board ships and put the money to pay raises for the REAL SOLDIERS!

My recruiter told me I could get 14K for being an 11 bravo but my buddy went through MEPS. and they told him that him that he couldn't go infantry when he wanted because it was FULL.

I'm kind of concerned, why is army infantry so understaffed and Marines so full, I'm excited for Army infantry OSIT but I don't understand why one is so full and one is so empty.

American soldiers are happy and proud to loose life and limb for the people of Iraq.

But what is so special about Iraq?

If the president says that there is oil in Antarctica, would they give life and limb for say the proud Pinguin nation of Antarctica??

Doesn't the US military get a sense of when they have been "played to the hilt"

The truth is that the military people have made a tremendous amount of sacrifice to look at the situation in any objective way.

"Saddam used his chemicals against the Kurds ect."

Ok, but I never knew the American troop wanted to give his life for a citizen of another country instead of his/her own (the USA)...sounds kind of silly and made up.

Amazing that they believe the propoganda that "dying for an Iraqi means also dying for the US's good"

Given the level of sacrifice it seems that in every US troop there is an Iraqi dying to get out.

Maybe they should drape the coffins with an IRAQI flaq??

Sounds silly to you to huhh

Source: CNN News. USA Newspaper. ABC News. NBC News. NOTE: Four years and the killings in Iraq go on and on. Into the 5th year now. All I see on T.V is the Army and Marines with a thousand yard stare carring their rear end in their arms. The insurgents are hurting the powerful Marines and Army everyday and making the Marines/Army beg for safety every hour they stay in Iraq. Time for the troops to come home. The war can't be won.

instead of the French. After all Ho Chi Minh looked up to the united states as a power that broke away from colonialism, just like the Vietnamese Communists wanted to do, and that the Vietnam war was a nationalist war and not a war of monolithic communist (or in reality Stalinist) expansion?

The British Navy is armed. They were boarding and inspecting ships in a warzone during a time of war. They were (hopefully!) prepared for any kind of trouble, why inspect ships outside of BRITISH waters otherwise? Why did they let their sailors be taken without a whimper?!

If you have read this, you have a alot of free time.

Iran troops captured english sailors for "sailing on their land." da UK could get pretty ticked off and go to war. It wouldn't be too much of a war, but because it would suck china and russia into Iran's side, thast would escalate into a bigger Eurasian conflict. Because of our NATO alliance with england, we would be part of it too. Then, more NATO countries will join, and Chinese and Russian allies will join, which will put like, the top 10 military powers on one battlefield. That might bring the soldier population down so much, that when I become 18, I might be drafted into the army which I DO NOT WANT TO BE IN!!!!!!!!!! Plus, this morning, we commenced a show-of-troops in the Persian Gulf to scare Iran, which is technically useless, and somewhat a bad thing, seeing as Iran's allies, Russia and china will take that as a threat and NUKE THE GULF, thus beginning a conflict. This really SUCKS!

are china and russia military allies? I've always thought about this and never found the answer. (If they are, couldn't they just invade all of Asia? They have the 2nd and 3rd most powerful militaries in the world, and after recruiting a couple other allies, could dominate eurasia.)
