It is silly.
The Commander-in-Chief is daggling this carrot in front of the troops, saying "It's your duty to defend your country. That if you win the war in Iraq, we will capture Osama. If you quit, you are unpatriotic."
So they stay, they fight, they patrol and they protect.
But all this is false.
Bush is doing it for his own personal agenda and vendetta.
He wants to do what his daddy-o couldn't.
Capture Saddam and get him hanged.
Oil was supposed to be icing on the cake.
Iraq has nothing, ZILCH, to do with 9-11.
Meanwhile, thousands of Iraqis are leaving the country as refugees.
Life is not any better after Saddam is gone.
In fact, it has turned worse for them.
And while the Americans are complaining about opinions from international posters, it's their way of paying back for the years of butting into other people's foreign affairs.
It's time for them to give us their valued opinions; America is the butt of everyone's joke.

I love it when citizens of other nations take the time to stick their nose in our business and criticize, but we are the first to be called when trouble strikes.
I also love how the non-military of this country can answer for the soldiers who are and have served in Iraq. I think that is great that I can be spoken for with such accuracy. /sarcasm
Look. I joined after the war started. I have done one combat tour so far and am looking at another later this summer. I see Iraq as a strategic base in the Middle East. And being that most of the threats to the US come form that area: stability in Iraq will increase stability in the Middle East - one way or the other. An increase in Middle Eastern stability will equate an increase in US security. So my service in Iraq is ultimately for US security, and we get to help liberate the Iraqi people along the way.
And BTW We have yet get any OIL benefit form the invasion...you;d start to think that that played out argument would go away by now. That was not the goal. If at sometime Iraq chooses to repay our help with oil, great. But regardless a stable Iraq will help increase overall oil supply and benefit the entire world.

The soldiers don't have much choice. Its the people who can change the politics at home that can help them, however they are for the most part so far removed from the realities of war....
...anyways... my point is... the soldiers have to do what they are told to do or they go to jail for sure... maybe they'd rather take their chances fighting and getting to come home instead...
"Given the level of sacrifice it seems that in every US troop there is an Iraqi dying to get out." I don't understand what that is supposed to mean tho....
It doesn't matter to our leaders if our military members feel played or not... our military members are not afforded the right to make that determination for themselves. They have to do what they are told to do.
The truth is they have made an enormous sacrifice. you really have no idea. Why do you think people want them home so badly??
If they ever ever EVER draped the coffins in the Iraqi flag as you suggest they should... I will personally physically attack who ever made that decision.

Its obvious you don't understand what its like to be proud to serve your country. We aren't over there to give our lives for oil. We are over there giving our lives so others can be free. So others can enjoy some of the freedoms that we do here in America, ones like posting stupid questions like this. Saddam would have killed anyone who talked bad about him. I met an Iraqi who said Saddam was good, but also said Bush was good. That Iraqi was still affraid if he went against his old government, he and his family would have been killed.
We are trying to bring peace to a nation, yes, there is oil over there, and it might be part of the reason we are there, but if we weren't over there, and did what we did, do you know what would have happened? Saddam would have taken over Kuwait, and who knows what other countries, and you would be paying $10 a gallon, if not more, for gas. The prices of everything you enjoy would have gone up, why, because gas moves the trucks that move stuff you buy. If gas goes up, other prices that haul that stuff goes up.
As far as giving our lives, we've done it in all the wars. WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, all those wars, our troops gave their lives defending other countries. France can thank us for that, they would be speaking German if it wasn't for us. Do you realize, if we didn't go and fight in other countries, you could be speaking a different language right now, and not being able to enjoy your freedom of speech. Some people shouldn't be able to speak their mind, but unfortunatly, every American, including you, have the right to free speech

Why are you so obsessed with the military? Build a bridge, get over it! You're not even an American.
Not everyone in the military believes in the war, and no one is dying for an Iraqi, nor they want to. They are doing a JOB, whether you think it's moral or immoral, it's a JOB, and they are following orders.

US Troops have always been willing to die for members of other nations. The majority of our wars have been fought on foreign soil in an attempt to liberate an oppressed people.
Examples:
WWI (Belgium, France, Netherlands, Poland etc)
WWII (Belgium, France, Italy, Denmark, Poland, China, Indonesia, etc)
Korean War (S. Korea)
Vietnam War (S. Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos)
Gulf War (Kuwait, Saudi Arabia)
Bosnia (Kosovo, Croatia)
Haiti (Haitians)
OIF (Iraqis)
The defense of those who are unable to defend themselves has always been the role of the United States. Soldiers train to end oppression wherever needed. So, yes we/they care about Iraqi citizens who were brutally murdered, gassed, left without schools and medical aid, and unable to better their lives. Just like we cared about the French in WWII and the South Koreans in the Korean War.
The same could be said of the countless humanitarian missions carried out by the military, from the Berlin Airlift to the Tsunami in Southeast Asia. The military has carried out more civil relief missions than any other oganization.

No, but we're all dying for YOU TO GET OUT... of our country, that is.
I've read your previous posts and as a foreign student attending an American university, you should consider yourself very fortunate that you're allowed to express your beliefs the way you can in our free country.
You're a very ungrateful little girl.
You have a lot more rights (particularly as a woman) here in this country than you do in India. Why don't you try to focus on what's GOOD about this country and stop talking badly about the soldiers who defend it?

Oh just shut up and go back to India. The solders were called up by are government to take care of a mission. If we leave them we will leave a country that will fall into anarchy. we attack the country and toppled their leader. If we don't clean up the mess we made, we are going to look pretty stupid. OH wait, You said we are already stupid, and yet you come here for an education in Computer Science. You are the only one who is stupid here. Also your word about are troops mean NOTHING if your going to spit in their face and you need to stop posting here in the military section. Also you still need to learn about western History. Have you read about WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, and Kuwait to name a few.

The only thing silly here is the question.
If you were an American you would understand.
So STFU about our Military and our country. You would be calling us to help you if you were in the same situation.
