I ask this now because he's not running for pres so hopefully i can get some honest opinions. Is the procedure for getting medals flawed?

the "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" were ticked off because he, as a civilian spoke out against the war. If you noticed, one of the people in that group was one of the people that signed off on his medals.
fact is that he was given a command in a war zone, he came under fire and got his men out alive. for that they decorated him.
Funny how GWB was able to make people think that was bad when he himself never saw combat and had a reprimand for disobeying an order.

It's possible to get purple hearts without truly earning them. I know of at least one dirtbag soldier my husband served with during his first time in Iraq who bugged a medic mercilessly to put him in for a purple heart even though he was only treated for a BRUISE (a minor one at that) because the tank three vehicles ahead of him was hit by IED (the one my husband was in). Odd that my husband didn't require medical care, and he was in the vehicle that got hit.

So, no the NAVY doesn't hand out medals for no reason, but yes, there are ways to circumvent that especially when one has political aspirations.

The sheer number of Purple Hearts he received in a very short amount of time is what most veterans question, I believe. Especially, Vietnam Veterans who know better.

The real thing that pisses me off is we have a handful of diehard republican's that were against Kerry come forth and try to discredit this HONEST WAR HERO
and there were absolutely NONE to say
that George W Bush WAS at the Nat'l Gaurd during the time that he went AWOL----NONE
I am appaulled by some Vietnam Veterans that went that way SHAME SHAME SHAME
let a fellow soldier burn for lies
forget about W going AWOL

Kerry is well connected politician. It does not take much imagination on how he got his medals. He lied in front of congress about missions he went on, atrocities he claimed to have witnessed. Thank God the swift boat vets torpedoed his Presidential campaign.

Medals in many ways is a popularity contest. If you suck up to the commander or are someones pet well you'll get lots of them.

You should read what the swift boat guys said about Kerry and some of the people who served with him. He is and was just a petty elitist. He had a guy with a camera to document his tour of Nam for heaven sakes! lol I lost a lot of my research on him when my other pc crashed but there were enough eye witness accounts that were the same to show that what he said happened to him and reality are two different things. I can't verify it now but I also read that the commies used part of the audio of Kerry's testimony to congress as part of the torture they used against our pow's. Sounds logical to me from what I've read of what he said to congress at the time.
