In case your wondering, officers dont do all the running around with guns. They do planning and intellignece work.

Step 1: You have to be an army officer. This is a long, tough process. You have to be fit, smart and the right kind of person to be an officer. The army has changed in recent years but it still helps if you went to the right school.

Step 2: Have a spotless career and (I think) at least 4 years service.

Step 3: Ask your CO to reccomend you for selection, if he'she doesnt laugh at you they will put your application forward. If this is considered by the regiment you will have the toughest selection process of any armed forces unit in the world and you probably wont be selected.

Step 4: Get through the training, which probably wont happen seeing as your on answers and not doing push ups.

The SAS may not be a secret service, but all members are required to sign the official secrets act, and those ex- members who have written about life in the service are not thought of as very true to' the regiment'. Although a lot of what has been written is vastly wrong in it's facts. As to becoming an officer in the regiment is concerned, it is sometimes by a convoluted route that the officers get to where they are. Let's just say that becoming a trooper is tough and to be an officer is likewise very tough , with added educational standards being required.

First become an officer in another Regiment.

Then go on a selection board. IF you are up to the standard you MIGHT be invited to join them.

If you are not doing it for the right reasons they'll suss you out and turn you down flat.

You have to be 110% dedicated and then some.

You have to be in the army first and if you didn't know that there's little chance you'll be bright enough for the regiment.
