We must learn from the lessons of history. When that fool Neville Chamberlain believed he could appease Hitler and it would stop him, look how that turned out. The Iranians have refused to stop enriching Uranium despite overwhelming international demand, and now they illegally seize 15 Britons. Is it time we stop showing weakness and do the right thing and stand up and fight? or should we remain cowards and continue appeasing the enemies of the civilized world?

Not rather, no. There is not any truly probability of a Special Forces rescue for a form of explanations. The simplest truly factor they may be able to do is say "Either go back them, or we will be able to ruin you." - after which comply with by way of. What's GOING to occur is that Britain will supply Iran some thing high-quality after which get their soldiers again after a few kind of exhibit trial. Just just like the final time. This is what occurs while you hold lucrative kidnappers and terrorists as an alternative than killing them. Orion EDIT: For the ones suggesting 'UN Pressure' - Iran's been below tons of sanctions and UN threats they usually simply further extra. You'll discover simply how very powerful the ones sanctions are. Look on the illustration of Iraq for a way priceless UN Sanctions and Pressure are. Years of steady violations via France, Germany, Russia, and China - They're vain.

At least the sailors are still alive and aren't being paraded around in front of camera with burlap hoods on their heads.

Iran has a well established history of grabbing hostages in effort to get leverage against an adversary.

I agree with you that Iran must not be permitted to threaten Israel or the West with nuclear weapons.

I am wondering where this attitude was while Saddam Hussein was shooting at allied planes, violating the "no-fly" zones, and stealing the UN humanitarian aid out of the "oil-for-medicine" program?

Iran has demonstrated nothing but contempt for the UN and international law as well as the nuclear nonproliferation treaty which they signed. The time for diplomacy is past.

This 'war' between the shiia and sunni has been going on for thousands of years (since the death of their prophet, Mohammed). It will not stop just because the rest of the world tells them to.

It is written in the Qu'ran to make war on all nonmuslims, and they continue to make war upon their fellow muslims. I hate to make rash generalizations about any one or any group of people, but these guys love to fight.

I say bomb the whole area back to the stone age, and let the survivors fight it out to the death amongst themselves. Whoever wins gets to write the history books and declare themselves rightious. Allah Akbar, but not quite so akbar once half his people have been exterminated by the other half.

Yes...Iran is not following the rest of the world. Iran is trying to bully other countries and the UN. They want to see what they can get away with.

At this point, it's more up to the British than anyone else about how to proceed, but America should back the Brits 100% in whatever they decide.

It's a different world than it was in the 30's and 40's. Diplomacy has to be allowed to play out. My gut reaction is to embargo Iran and sink anything flying an Iranian flag; but it didn't work the last time they took our embassy people hostage and I doubt it'll work this time.

Exhaust the diplomacy; then use the big stick.

Interesting how difficult it is to fine a LIST of casus belli...

Though I would consider State sponsered kidnapping... and piracy to be casus belli.

If Iran doesn't release the Royal Marine / Navy personnel... who WERE in Iraqi waters when siezed, then Great Britan should freeze all Iranian business and funds in the UK. IF they fail to comply after that... they should bomb the base the patrol boats came from.

They are the super power of the middle east, they are just trying to assert themselves, they are not a third world country, and do not like being treated like one, they are not going to be pushed around by some country on the other side of the world. If I ran Iran, I would declare war on britain and the u.s., just so you know, I am a canadian, and this is my personal opinion.
