Before I speak with a recruiter I wanted to have some general info to go off of. Does anyone know about how long it would be before they send me off to boot camp or does it just depend of job availability? Also do I have to attend my school straight from boot camp or can I get some time in between? Thanks.

that's how much my parents went in debt for 3 years of my schooling and I went about 15,000 in debt! but I flunked out of college. My first year and a half i did amazing then i don't know what happened. I just couldn't do it anymore. I looked for other options and decided i wanted to join the air force... I have kinda always wanted to but never had the guts to do it. but now my options were limited. My parents want me to go to community college then back to my former university, my dad especially. I feel bad because of the amount of money spent, but i do plan on getting a degree one day before i'm 27 i'm only 20 right now. I think the military might give me a chance to serve my country while giving me the discipline and kick in the pants i need to finish school. any suggestions, i'll even take opinions... don't be mean though i've already cried about the money that has been spent and feel guilty but feel like i have a better chance of finishing school this way!

i understand the importance of a higher education in the job market these days... but why do i feel that even with a college education its still hard to get a good job these days. why are people with degrees working as telemarketers and bank tellers and other jobs you don't need a degree for? I know its not a waste of time but i'm having a hard time getting in the groove of taking classes and doing homework!!! joined the air force, not to get out of it, but i did fail out of school. now i want to go air force my parents want me to go community college then back to the university i flunked out, i really want to be in the air force for awhile though and see and do different things before i have a family and my degree and my final career! any ideas as to good idea bad idea, or how to get back in the groove of college?

What happens when a soldier is killed in action? Are there autopsy measures taken, are his or her weapons recovered...?

Why is it? We sell guns to the Arabs and dynamite to the Jews.

Are you proud that US weapons dealers dwarf other countries? Does it freak you out when many of those US made weapons are aimed at Americans in Iraq?

I have requested a later shipping date, which took a week for my recruiter to get me in contact with the right people to be able to request, the the MSGT i talked to told me I need to write a letter and he would submit it. I don't know if this is the proper procedures or just the run around. I have cited that my current ship out date would cause financial hardship on my parents do to a series of event having to do with my medical bills, college loans and other bills. I asked if i couldn't get a new date to be released from DEP with the option to later return. Is it really that difficult to get a date change when you did not already have a job just a guaranteed Aptitude area? what are the chance of my date getting changed. they asked for a notarized letter from my parents, but my parents would prefer I just not enlist.... so instead i gave the option of date change or release. Just wanna know the odds of getting it changed! and what to do if the don't!

why don't people understand that we are in a time of war not only in iraq but elsewhere. People fail to realize the repurcussions of just pulling our troops out of Iraq. Do you understand that Iran is just waiting to take that country over as well as all of the terrorist groups and religious factions? You think its bad over there now, you will see death on a different scale if we leave. Do you realize that if we leave Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Turkey will be forced to fight in Iraq against Iran and Syria? Do you realize that if we leave Iraq we leave Iran in control of our oil and do you realize that it leaves the door wide open for them to continue on with their nuke program and possibly take out us and Israel with the nukes, possibly forcing us to use our weapons on them and the same for israel as well? And do realize that if this happens China and Russia will get involved as well as the every other middle eastern country? Not to mention the North Koreans wouldn't just sit there.

Is this possible from a logistical and practical standpoint being that there are 2-3 million american gun owners compared to 1.5 million active duty military personnel (even though total armed forces are about 2.5 million)? You couuld also look at like this: private citizens- 297.5 million, military 2.5 million. Would the people have the tactical advantage being that they are all spread out and so much more numerous or would the government have the advantage with their superior firepower even though it only takes a single 22 caliber bullet or kitchen knife to kill someone?

My boyfriend is deployed for six months, which isnt really that long, but feels like forever. So to cheer both of us up, I want to make a list of something that takes six months to do... for example.... My next teeth cleaning appointment wont be until hes back, I bought a bottle of juice that wont expire until after he comes back... LOL I know its cheesy, but little things like that make it seem so much eaiser to deal with.... anyother ideas to add??

On the one hand, by adequately arming them, we will keep other countries from attacking or taking advantage of them.

And at the same time, doesn't everyone agree that "Nuclear weapons don't kill people, people kill people."?
