I have requested a later shipping date, which took a week for my recruiter to get me in contact with the right people to be able to request, the the MSGT i talked to told me I need to write a letter and he would submit it. I don't know if this is the proper procedures or just the run around. I have cited that my current ship out date would cause financial hardship on my parents do to a series of event having to do with my medical bills, college loans and other bills. I asked if i couldn't get a new date to be released from DEP with the option to later return. Is it really that difficult to get a date change when you did not already have a job just a guaranteed Aptitude area? what are the chance of my date getting changed. they asked for a notarized letter from my parents, but my parents would prefer I just not enlist.... so instead i gave the option of date change or release. Just wanna know the odds of getting it changed! and what to do if the don't!

Amy S has it to the T.
Its a volunteer service and you felt you wanted to be part of it. you asked questions and thought it over, and you decided to join, good for you, yeah boot is hard, and some of the assignment's are difficult, but trust me, after you went thru it, you will forever be proud of yourself and your buddies, and will think back on your experience with fondness, is it worth it, HELL YEAH

Will you make more in the Marines than as a civilian? Will you get free dental/medical/food in the civilian world? Would the money you make in the civilian world help your parents much? After boot you will start out making $20,400 a year. Personally, I think you'd be better off and more able to help your parents while you were in the Marines(I assume when you said MSGT, that's a US Marine MSGT). You can have an allotment made out to your parents' bank account so they will have that money to help them out. You won't be tempted to spend it because you won't even see it.
Contact your debtors BY PHONE AND REGISTERED MAIL and explain what you are doing and ask for a delay before you can start paying them in a FEW WEEKS. Then start paying them. I'm sure they would be willing to work with you if it's just a few weeks.
Good luck!

your "ship out" date is based on the beginning of the class you are in for advanced or MOS school.....you are set to start Basic Training on a date that will graduate you in time to enter you in the MOS school you are enlisting for....the "ship out" date being changed causes a load of trouble for the entire system...you should have notiifed your recruiter of possible delays before he set you up for a MOS school...as an ex: I started Basic on June 17 so i could be in my MOS school starting Sept 1....that pretty much cant be changed....they are just going thru the motions

go to your recruiter and ask for a soldier and sailors relief act paper. It is a paper that lets your creditors know that you are going to boot camp and it states that you are unable to pay because you are in bootcamp. its that easy. if your scared to go to boot camp, don't be .... its not that bad and its worth its wieght in gold when you graduate. and when you do you will have alot of money in the bank because you haven't spent much and then you will be back on track and start paying your bills. semper fi

It's totally normal to get a little nervous and try to backpedal a bit at this point. My advice? Don't. USMC Boot Camp is all about mental strength. This is when it starts.
