I keep noticing questions and replies regarding this and it does come to my surprise when people reply or ask referring to the fact that since our military of today is an all volunteer service that it takes away a certain valor or dignity or just something special to the fact that they died while serving their country. I cant put my finger on it but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when i read these comments and wonder if anyone else feels that way too?

No one really expects to die (if some do, the number is not that high) when they join the army. Life throws at us so many different situations that we ought to realize that alot of people (i did NOT say all, but many) join the military for the fact that they dont see any other option in order to move forward with their life.

I was medically discharged from the USMC about 9 months ago. As soon as I got home I sent in an application for the VA. Well, 9 months later, and I still haven't heard anything yet. I'm injured pretty badly, I have no idea what is taking so long. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Or does anyone know how long it takes to get through to the VA?

The Army requires normal color vision for my preferred infantry branch if I decide to go ROTC. I am red/green deficient. So now I'm considering USMC.

I've noticed that a big percentage of soldiers who have been killed recently had children on the way and will never get to see them. Shouldn't these guys at least be taken out of harms way? They should all be brought home but I can't they take the expecting fathers off the front lines?

Sharia law has been aboloished in Somalia and the country has kicked out the Islamic Courts Council from power nearly overnight. Does this indicate that it is possible to defeat the terrorists in countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan?

it is easy to hear people saying they got a degree while serving in military nowdays.
i am underaged yet and i just want to know how that's possible.
Don't people who serve in military have to live in the base(or not...).
Does that mean our soldiers are allowed to attend classes in universities while being on duty?
im thinking about serving in the air force or the air national guard.
which one would help me better to get a degree in an university if it works out that way?

I have always wondered about the recoil of modern semi-automatic rifles. There are people that fire it like it's the easiest thing in the world while there are people that get blown away like it was a miniture cannon or at least can't control it at all and stop after two or three rounds.

THere is a news article on what was going on at Guantanamo, and there was one particularlly harsh form of torture. It said, "Subjecting a detainee to a lap dance by a topless female guard".

So would any girls like to inflict this form of torture on me? And as for guys reading this, could you bear to have that inflicted on you?

Here is the whole article below
