Things that help to keep him from getting bored. My son is a Marine serving over there. This might seem silly, but I sent him a Duncan yo-yo with a cd on how to do some tricks and a harmonica with a little music book. The guys are all asking for DVD's to watch on their laptop computers. Practical items are also very much appreciated. It is cold over there right now, and my son is asking for some warm gloves, so we are sending some to him. Sending him his favorite candy and whatever flavor gum he likes is great too. Then there are the things that he can trade for things he wants. Cigars seem to be a requested item over there. My son asks my daughter to send boxes of them so he can trade them. Anyway, whatever you choose to send will be appreciated just because it came from you. Be sure to keep the letters coming. The guys over there enjoy hearing about local news from home. Also send small packages as often as you can. We try to send one off weekly. God Bless you for supporting your soldier while he is away!

Well, depending on how much money you have, you could get him a laptop or computer. That way you could get one of those web cams and see each other "face to face." If that doesn't work, you could always get a camcorder and send him some home videos. The more realistic, the better he'll feel

I like Lynda's idea. Also, I spoke with a guy on R&R and he said all the care packages are nice, but the thing that want the most is letters and emails. None of this "hey, I miss you!" crap either. They want something to read. They want to know what you did, everything you did, why you did it, how you felt when you did it, what things look like here, how things are in the world. He said they get bored and they look forward to these things. He said that they would rather get 1 long email that's interesting rather than 100 little 3 sentace emails.

So keep that in mind when you send him something. (Also, tell him thank you for me? Let him know that he is deeply appreciated for risking his life so that my kids can go to sleep at nice all safe and sound.)

Send him some home made goodies with pictures of his family, and you together. Just write him long letters and tell him that you are praying for him and how much you love him.

Lots of pictures of home, letters of encouragement from friends and family, something sprayed with your perfume (a pillow or small stuffed animal), a letter from you, sealed with a kiss.

while i grew to become into deployed I enjoyed getting snacks! (M&M, Chex turtle blend, pork jerky, equipment tuna no longer canned, fruit roll ups, Jelly beans, the powders you could blend to flavor water, dried end result, nuts, and different stuff that may not soften and can final in warmth) sometime the mail would not get to them for 2 months and it sits in a warm storage so be careful what you put in the equipment. Babywipes are great. you ought to use them to scrub your self and experience sparkling. shoes inserts and powder. Does he like specific issues? Like I had to have my Aveda and dove products. confirm you wrap the products in a great zip lock bag in case it breaks. attempt to duck tape them to dodge it from spilling and in case you could bubble wrap them. while the care equipment get off the airplane human beings do no longer cope with the boxes like they're fragile. I enjoyed getting photos of my family individuals and homestead DVD's to observe. information clips and new CD/DVD are great. now and lower back it feels like the international stops once you're long gone. once you come back homestead you're no longer in track with each and every thing. i could hear a track on the radio and could say wow that track is vast. human beings could seem at me like i grew to become into loopy and tell me that track is so previous. If he has specific intrest deliver him factor approximately it. If he would be long gone throughout the trip journeys deliver your equipment early so he can get it on time. i grew to become into long gone throughout X-mas. certainly one of my adult men lady pal sent him an extremely attractive 12 days of chrismas present. (i'm no longer announcing you're able to do this genuine factor yet i'm complimenting the girls creativity.) She sent him 12 photos. He would desire to in uncomplicated terms open one an afternoon. She had on an extremely attractive santa suit and on a daily basis she bumped off slightly. i understand that saved his ideas on his female back at homestead and saved that flame gleaming. Oh my husband grew to become into deployed while i grew to become into deployed too. I sent him a swiss military knife together with his nick call engraved on it. He surely enjoyed it and located it very useful. I had pals that have been in Iraq, as loopy as this sounds, they enjoyed geting scarfs for the dirt storms. sunlight block and chap stick too.
