It varies a little bit. From my experience in Airborne Infantry Battalions you will have 4 rifle companies (A, B, C, D) and a headquarters and headquarters company (HHC) making up a battalion.

3 Fire Teams in a Squad
3 Squads in a Rifle Platoon
3 Platoons + a HQ Platoon in a Rifle Company
6 Companies + a HQ Company in a Battalion
3 Battalions + a HQ Battalion in a Regiment
3 Regiments + a HQ in a Marine Division

it depends but usually 9. 3 line companies in a regiment and 3 regiments in a battalion.plus a hq company in each regiment and battalion plus support companies attached to the battalion while in the field deployed.
