What would you do? Where would you go?

I've heard it is 8 years but then I've heard of people getting out after 4 years with an honorable discharge. I think enlisting will be perhaps one of my best moves ever made, however, I do NOT want to make the military a life-long career and I want to get out after the shortest term possible. Also, what can I expect my annual salary to be?

I've also heard that having a certain amount of college credits lets you go in at a higher pay rate, can anybody elaborate on this too?

Why not break up Iraq into three counties that share oil revenue? It appears that Sunni, Shi'ite and Kerds do not want anything to do with each other. So why not help them gain their freedom? Why don’t more people (Americans) state this universal ethnic need of autonomy?

I received an e-mail that said Jane Fonda is about to be honored as one of the greatest American women. It also stated in that piece that she actually betrayed the U. S. prisoners that she saw in Viet Nam by turning over the prisoners social security numbers to the No. Vietnamese soldiers. I want to know if this is a true story before I send it on.

The people who are calling him a traitor aren't out there fighting and don't have their fathers and sons dieing on iraqi soil!!!!! This war is IMMORAL and ILLEGAL. Some people need to wake up and smell the coffee before this could be the beginning of armageddon!!!!! We already don't have support from most countries, sooner or later we won't have any help at all. One day we're going to piss off the wrong country and face an unfortunate demise. Not long ago my brother downloaded a website of what really happened to the World Trade Center and the next day or so there was several calls from the government, and his computer (along with others he forwarded the site to), was hacked into and information deleted. Now if the government felt that they did the right thing, then what is there to hide? If the military believe that this war was legitimate, then why wasn't Watada given the oppurtunity to present his evidence and witnesses? Start being aware of the world around you before it's too late

First Lt. Ehren Watada, a 28-year-old Hawaii native, is the first commissioned officer in the U.S. to publicly refuse deployment to Iraq. He announced last June his decision not to deploy on the grounds the war is illegal.

Even if he is tired of seeing soldiers being killed I think he should still feel obligated to go. He is in the Army for christs sake!!! I cannot believe that an officer would act this way, thank God for the men and women we have that will truly do what they signed up to do and defend this country!!! God bless the USA!!!!

I`m just curious to see others responses. Waking up one day to find out that a foreign country or even the United States has launched a nuclear bomb toward another country over night. Because this scenario is very realistic in this day and age. Honestly, it`s my worst nightmare. What would we do?

Lt. Ehren Watada has refused to deploy to Iraq, on the grounds that the war was illegal, since the original excuse of WMD's was falsified to start the war in Iraq. He is being court marshaled. is there a site that one can send letters of support for him?
