Congratulations and thanks for thinking about the military as an option for your future.
Basic training is just that, training at the basic level. While you're in BT, you will be trained physically (running, pushup, confidence course, etc) and mentally (marching, saluting, recognizing rank, working as team). BT is not too hard, it's just hard enough. You have to remember that you are learning to be a soldier, and are receiving just the "basic" instructions (you will receive more training at your unit). BT is only 8 weeks, and there is a LOT of stuff for a new soldier to learn in that short amount of time. The instructors may seem like bullies, and you may feel that there is a lot of stuff that isn't necessary, but everything you learn in BT is designed to help you survive on the battlefield.
Once BT is over, you will go to your job training. That's where you learn to do the job that the Army guaranteed you.
Good luck.

my fiance is in the army he is in basic right now. they wake up like at 430 in th emorning to run. they mess with you . there like bullies all day and night. they do things that are uncalled for like hold your mail for weeks and then when you recieve it they make you do a push up for every cent that the stamp is worth... 39cent stamp equals 39 push ups. the first three weeks are the hardest. you have to get in the mode of the training. tere are a sh!t load of push ups and running. you are goin to lear how to work as a team not just as an individual. every man has a job and if that man doesnt do his job correct then the next man wont be able

First of all, talk to a recruiter if you have one. Also, I would have you visit www.armystudyguide.com that forum is filled with excellent information and may have the answers to all or most of your questions!
Thats a start, but keep your recruiter's number on hand, they have excellent answers too! Good luck!

Basically they tear you down both physcially and psychologically and build you back up. It is strenuous physically but you will be in
the best physical shape of your life once you finish basic. Not all soldiers become infantrymen, But you are taught to defend yourself.

Don't sign up right now, you'll only be a fool.
Sign up after the war is over, and maybe if you're lucking you'll fighting for something that is important...
Do your research about the war, not saying the troops currently serving are fools, just those who joined during the Iraq war. The cause is absolutely stupid. You'll probably end up like the First Lt. Ehren Watada...
