Lesser tax bills?? Hell i dont know where your gettin your info from but have u seen how much we make as military members?? If u break it down in the hours we work and the pay we get its actually below fed minimum wage. In 2002, we actually only made about 4 dollars an hour!! We still pay the same amount in taxes as everyone else!!

We do not get lower taxes just because we are in the military. But because of the level of income that we earn, we are placed into lower tax brackets for the most part. Then we go ahead and get our taxes back on returns.

we did 15 years ago with our housing allowance but someone complained about it so no we pay the same taxes as everyone else, the only break we get is when we are in a combat area, no tax for that period

no they pay the same taxes but you get a 6 month extension if you are deployed and if you reup for another term in a combat zone your bonus is tax free.personally i think they should not have to pay taxes as the pay is to low for the job.when i was in the army a lot of married soilders were on welfare.

money you make while outside the country on deployments is tax free. Everything else is normal. But for those guys who reenlist in Iraq, their entire bonus is tax free. Imagine a 30,000 check TAX free. Not bad, but then again its a year in iraq.
