The people who are calling him a traitor aren't out there fighting and don't have their fathers and sons dieing on iraqi soil!!!!! This war is IMMORAL and ILLEGAL. Some people need to wake up and smell the coffee before this could be the beginning of armageddon!!!!! We already don't have support from most countries, sooner or later we won't have any help at all. One day we're going to piss off the wrong country and face an unfortunate demise. Not long ago my brother downloaded a website of what really happened to the World Trade Center and the next day or so there was several calls from the government, and his computer (along with others he forwarded the site to), was hacked into and information deleted. Now if the government felt that they did the right thing, then what is there to hide? If the military believe that this war was legitimate, then why wasn't Watada given the oppurtunity to present his evidence and witnesses? Start being aware of the world around you before it's too late

Well then Paki, you should have no problem taking his place. It's like being a prosecutor, if you have evidence that your client have murdered someone, you have the right to back out of the case. The bible said "thou shalt not bear false witness." If the govt. had no concrete proof of "weapons of mass destruction", then the war should have never started. Think about it: politicians and other members of the govt. resigned why? Because their hearts told them that what they were a part of something that was wrong. I don't know about some, but I have a family to care for and I'd rather have them home with me than someone folding a flag in front of me while shots are fired in the background.

He is not refusing to serve. He is not even refusing to serve in combat. He is refusing to serve in Iraq.

Why? because the reason he joined, the reason given for invading Iraq, was based on premeditated lies from the administration. He is correct. His "oath / contract" was obtained from him under criminally false statements and intents. He is doing the right thing morally and is willing to pay the price for calling out the administration for what it is. He is doing what the cowards in congress should have done, but didn't have the guts to do.

Frankly, I have no doubt he will be found guilty, but not because he deserves that, but because that's just the way things work. Being right legally and morally means nothing when you take on the military or government. I think his point will be made regardless, and he is indeed brave for not taking the easy way out.

First of all you and your brother dont know what you are talking about, secondly the Lt. when he enlisted signed an oath stating he would follow all orders given, he refused and now he is paying the price, the military is voluntary but when you sign up you are stating that you will follow all orders, no refusal that's the deal. the LT. must now answer for his actions, this isn't boy scouts where you can go home at the end of the day or stop playing if you got hurt, this is the armed forces where we support and defend the constitution, i wish we didn't have to get involved with any country, let them fight it out but no we will be asked time and time again for support, so unless you ever swore an oath of allegiance to the service, think before you speak and this conspiracy theory well you would probably think that all the terrorists are innocent, so why don't you go there and see how they treat you. THEN you live on the freedoms that so many have died for and the problem is you dont realize the cost that we had to give for those, The military does not pick the politicians that are elected, you people do, we will always follow orders, that is part of the mission and job. Yes you stay home with your family but remember this if there wasnt military that died for your freedoms you would be either speaking German or Japanese now or Russian, yes war is terrible and i wish that i could of stayed the whole 20 years in port, not going on 6 to 9 month sea deployments while my family was home but that was the course that i chose and i knew the actions that i did. The LT. signed up for the military, maybe for college, the free ride but there is also a obligation that has to be met, if he didnt want to fight he should of stayed home like the others that wont join, he made his bed now he has to lie in it.

He has the right to decline because at end of the day, what's he scuffling with for, freedom, freedom to decline, to assert sure, to have a voice, yet you're good to assert "the U. S. authorities can't enable Watada to set an celebration for something the human beings contained in the U. S. protection stress. imagine if a million/2 of the U. S. infantrymen in Iraq keen to stop because all of them felt that the Iraq warfare change into unlawful too...." and then what if. it truly is vitally troublesome to respond to, it like a double aspect sword. Him being a protection stress guy is demanding, they don't play politics, they do what they get instructed to do, yet that doesn't mean they don't imagine. it truly is on his thoughts if he did something that he idea change into unlawful. yet you should do desire needs to be performed, climate you want it or not. As former Secretary of State Colin Powell suggested (i imagine it change into him) on the challenge of Iraq "you destroy it, you purchase it". climate the warfare in Iraq is legal or not, the wear and tear has been performed and now it needs fixing. playstation . Why does the protection stress not deliver him to Afghanistan instead. Ehren Watada (to what I easily have examine) is a proud American and is prepared to wrestle al-Qaeda , he merely would not favor to bypass to Iraq for moral causes.

"I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; [So help me God (optional)]." (DA Form 71, 1 August 1959, for officers.)

His oath says it perfectly. He'll protect the CONSTITUTION against all enemies, including DOMESTIC enemies. People need to realize that the true enemy is not Al Qaeda, but rather the people that wanted to fight them in the first place.

You know, Jefferson, Washington, and Adams were considered traitors once too, by the British. Now look at them.

Paki I have to say I am completely with you! I currently am enlisted in the armed forces and I also took an oath to defend our country and follow ALL orders from our leaders without question. All these news stories and columns are propoganda put out by the media. Truth is the media has absolutely NO idea what the military knows. We are all taught to never say anything to the media and all those higher ups go on tv to just put a show on. why would we tell everyone on national and cable tv what we plan to do and why we do it when the terrorist can intercept it?? It's insane if you think the media is all true.

So to sum it all up, I joined the armed forces (army active duty) to defend my country and keep the fight from coming to america where my family and friends are. I will make that trip to the sand box in place of my family, after all it's the least I could do for all the people I love

There are times when you must stand up for what is right. And then there are times to accept the facts. The facts are, Lt. Watada made an oath to serve his country. He broke that oath by refusing to be shipped to Iraq. As far as the legality of this war, I can't place my opinion on that matter. As it is right now, the 'war on terrorism' is currently on. But as far as fighting is concerned, this war is in the stage of reconstruction. What the people serving in Iraq are doing is helping the Iraqi people stabilize their nation. If we abandoned them now, how do you think they will respond to us? It's bad enough as it is that America made a great deal of enemies. And if we have to add another country to our list, we'd be in serious trouble. If Lt. Watada wants to make a stand, he should serve his country first and foremost, and THEN protest the situation on better grounds than the legality of the war.

I wouldn't go so far as to assume that Watada is moral in his ideals. By not being the leader that he promised to be to the US Army soldiers, he is taking their lives into his hands. If you don't believe in serving your country, then don't sign up in the first place. If you made a mistake when doing the "I (state your name)s" then that is all on you, suck it up, and deal. Finish what you started, so that you know that you did everything you possibly could to save as many lives as possible. Staying on Ft. Lewis, to not get charged is cowardice. But you are allowed your opinion, and kudos to you for stating what you believe.

I feel that a person that has voluntarilly joined the military and now refuses to go where assigned, during a military conflict is basically a traitor/deserter in the face of the enemy and should be treated as such.

does the government hack into your brother's computer often?

As far as Watada, there are rules. He failed to follow them.
