I am a 21 year old female that comes from an army/marine family. I want to become a police officer but do not have a strong employment background so I figured the military would be the best way to help get that. What branch should I join and why?

Right now, NOT the Army or Marines unless you want to scare and worry the heck out of your family!

First off..... go to the local Police Station and ask them which service's military police or similar branch would help the best.

Secondly talk to each of the branches as well.

For example; the AZ SWAT/ Border Patrol/ and specialty units in Phoenix AZ wanted mostly Combat Arms specialties.

The second thing they looked at was 'Tactical Military Police' rather than 'Garrison Military Police'. Army and Marines have the Tactical MP's if this is still something that your local Police are looking for. In AZ the local Police were specifically told NOT to hire US Air Force and US Navy military Police because they normally lacked the skills and experience that Phoenix was looking for back then.

The best thing would be to talk to recruiters from all of the branches and tell them what you're interests are. There are MPs in all of the branches, so it may not matter unless you are thinking of the reserves or the National Guard. In that case, you want to pick the branch with a nearby reserve/national guard center.

each and every of the branches have the comparable pay and comparable advantages. Deployments final six months or extra in each and every branch different than for the army which has 12 month deployments. The military has the main deployments. each and every sailor on sea accountability gets deployed to sea for no less than six months or extra. it is not important which branch you connect there is often the prospect you would be stationed distant places. while you're stationed in Korea you're able to desire to be there for years and the militia will possibly no longer pay on your loved ones to return. if your loved ones is so important you're able to desire to no longer undergo to be with out them fore better than 2 months do no longer connect the militia. it isn't any longer the existence for you. ETA: somebody reported the Coast shield above. The Coast shield cutters bypass to sea for 4 or extra months at a time. yet even Coast Guardsmen are at present be stated as as much as the army to serve in Iraq. military deployments are six months or extra.

I personally say the Air Force(my branch) mainly because quality of living is better and our deployment are 4-6 months. However you should go with your heart. Talk to a recuiter from each branch, hear what they have to offer, whoever has the best deal and who you can picture yourself working with for the next 4-6-8 years is the best choice.

The military is at least a 2 year hitch, so you have decide for YOURSELF after talking to recruiters, or reading up on brochures
which branch is best for you. What I like, you may not particularly care for. It is a very personal choice. Good luck to you.

for police i would say army or air force, dont go navy, the army and air force will give you the back ground you need. MAKE sure that you read your enlistment contract before signing it or you will wind up in the front lines as infantry, no offense to infantry but its an old trick for recruiters to promise you the moon but later after you get out of Boot you find out that your job that you signed up for was not set up as planned

air force or navy. air force is luxurious compared to army and marines hands down. from barracks to dining facilities. you can be an mp in each branch as well. as long as you don't fly air force would be your best bet, harder to get promoted than army and marines (i don't know much about navy obviously) because it weighs heavily on education both military and civilian as well as experience, pt, and awards. if you don't want to be brainwashed, DO NOT join the marines.

Become an Army of One..I had a ball while I was in. Army makes rank faster. and more pay..Marines do have a cute uniform though, even if they can't fit their heads into jars!! If you don't like either of those join the Airforce they are more intellectual.
