Why in the hell did you join the military if you are refusing to go to Iraq? I think that you are a coward and a chicken. Just let me tell you something and that is if soldiers refuse to go to Iraq and not fight for this country and the bad guys come to our great country and kill each of us then it is your faught, you said an oath and you broke it. Let me ask you something and that is would you rather be a hero for this country or a traiter just like the terroist? I do not support you cause I am on the military side and I support them 100% but you I do not support a coward who backs down from a challenge. All you soldiers who are reading this I just want to say one thing and that is would you rather fight for this country or would you rather be a coward and refuse to go to Iraq like Lt. Watada is and fight for freedom?

In 1946, the then Labour (Socialist), (Communist), call them what you will, Prime Minister, Clemment Atley ,swore to destroy Portsmouth Dockyard as a Naval base and Referbishment Centre in favour of Chatham Dockyard in Kent.

In WW2 "Pompey" was instrumental in sending ships to sink the Scharnhorst. It also deployed vessels to end the Bismark. It patrolled the Channel and stopped many a German Suface raider from getting into the Thames and intimidated the German Luftwaffe enough to make Hitler think that invasion of the British Isles would be impossible without the destruction of the Royal Navy.

So is it that a fair few destroyers were engaged in the Battle of The Atlantic, as well as escorting convoys to Ark Angel in Murmansk in Stalinist Russia, Food, clothing and gasolene supplies to the beleagered garrison and populace of Malta, as well as supplying food, ammunition and other stuffs to Britains fighting forces and is stiil seen as a demoracy. Or something else??.

A friend of mine that I served with recieved a honorable discharge after his initial four years were up, and then several months later, he transitioned into the Active Reserves from Inactive Reserves. He is currently recieving an Other Than Honorable from the Reserves. Is he still eligible to use his G.I. Bill/ACF since it was based on his active duty contract?

My friend was killed in Iraq last month. He is all I think about. I don't laugh as much. I don't play as much. I don't care as much. Little things that used to matter, dont. I just keep thinking that he cant, why should I. I can't call him. I can't see him. He's just GONE. :(

I read an article proclaiming that the British Navy was mothballing 1/2 of its fleet. Is this just a rumor or has the UK lost it's mind?

I am a US citizen who is a third generation Englishman. I have fought side by side with UK military who I consider my equal if not better.

Is it true; have the English surrendered?

My best friend was killed in Iraq on Dec. 10. At his funeral we lined up flags from the church to the gravesite, we had a huge flag hung from the city fire trucks that he was carried under. All this stuff was done to honor him. But Why did he have to die to be honored so greatly? Why don't we do this for our soldiers every time they come home from war??? They should feel that honor while they are alive, not after they are killed.

In "Below", one of my favorite scary movies - which takes place during WW2 - a woman rescued by a US Navy submarine captain makes a comment about his "ship", and he corrects her: "This is a boat, not a ship."

Just curious: why is a submarine technically a "boat" rather than a "ship"?

My guy is under tremendous pressure right now over in Iraq. During a conversation that we had he said the only thing he wants when he calls is to know that, 'I'm happy safe, in good health, & not stressed out.' (He said this because he doesn't want me to stress about what he's doing, so he won't tell me about what's going on over there when I asked him.) Well in the last week, my mom had as stroke (We won't know anything until 3-6 months) And I got into a car crash and totaled my car, I'm bit bang up but okay. I don't want to stress him out but part of me feels like he should know, he thinks of my mom as his own even calls her mom. Would he be very angry/hurt/upset if I didn't tell him this stuff until he gets home in about 8 months? I’d like to wait until then, he has enough stuff to worry about. But what do you guys think?
