PSYOP is a pretty good mos, but if you have the chance at going for 18X then take it. It is not about surviving the course through the special forces pipeline, its about having the right stuff. The program is designed to test how much you really want to be there, not to break you or get you to survive. The instructors know that many candidates do not have have the experience of being a hollywood super soldier...a lot of candidates come from support roles in the army...

If you are not a member of the US Army yet, you have
to go thru basic training before you can become a member of the US Army Special Forces or PSYOPS.
Any way, you do not need PSYOPS to become a member of the US Army Special Forces!!!!!!!!!!!

I say Special Forces- It is one the most intensified training, militarily speaking, and as to what the other answerer said "if you survive it", is exactly true. The Special Ops training is designed for failure, and not for success. Also, less then a hand full, from each class may make it , or, sometimes none at all. It is for the best of the best, and that's what makes it an honor to pass this training physically, mentally, educationally, and learn how to set your heart aside for duty to do the impossible only.

If you are dedicating yourself to go 18x, it would be a better idea to go in on a ranger contract/rip-rop/battallion. If you survive all that, you can be well groomed for life in SF. However I must say, that if you truly dedicate yourself physically, and get through as many schools as you are allowed to go through, you may be on to something.. Check to see if they are still offering 18x contracts, if you qualify, you will be put in the pipeline and be in the SF community from the get go.
good luck!

It's a good idea to have any MOS at all before applying for SF. THen you have an MOS to fall back on, rather than the army picking one for you.
