It should not only be allowed, but mandated.
Service to a nation should not be a matter of convenience, but a necessity. If you benefit from a thing, you should contribute to it.
It works damn good in Israel.

NOOOO!!!! You will end up with a bunch of pansies like many on Yahoo Answers that feel like life is better spent sitting at home on a computer all day give misinformed advice and acting like they have the only answer to all lifes problems.
The military is better served by those that chose to serve.
My grandfather WW2 Marine said the draft almost ruined the military, also being given the choice Army or jail.
Think about it, would you rather have a nurse that wants to be a nurse or one that was told you will be a nurse for 2 years then you can have your life back? I will chose the former over the later.

NO! Although I'm pro military, a draft would be disastrous. You would end up with too many undesireables in uniform. The military is supposed to be "professional", not a rehab center for deadbeats and substance abusers.
Second, from a Libertarian point of view, it's a form of slavery. No American should be forced into any kind of involuntatry servitude unless they are being punished for a felony.

Yes and no.
A draft would provide a heavy supply of readily available soldiers releasing the experienced ones for combat while the draftees would take the paper shifting jobs.
The downside to it is that a draftee has been called to military service against his will; this will result in the draftee doing a poor unenthusiastic job while serving.
Here in Russia, the method of getting soldiers into the army is through conscription. Every able male should serve 2 years of military service. The result is that soldiers are unwilling and carry out their duties in a grudging way.

Definitely, I served my country and proud of it.But I volunteered like many other loyal Americans. My family members served in WW 2 in both the Navy and Air corps. It's to bad that we need a draft ,but then there are not enough men that can handle the military without mommy. The military makes you ,self reliant think for yourself and loyal to your comrades. It was my privilege to serve ,and if need be I would serve again,if my age would not be considered.

NO! beacuse we have a highly intelligent military now and drafting would only cause quotas to be met and recruiters would start drafting like they did in the Viet-Nam era, for which I volunteered but served with a very high percentage of really really stupid people.

No, not at this time - We have plenty of men and women who have volunteered to serve their country - There are a lot of young people out there right now that the military wouldn't have.
We are just find !
