... allegedly won't or can't afford to comply with basic Health and Safety issues for its Military Organisation (ie MoD) as any other civilian organistations have to comply with, such as basic equipment in good order to get the job done, as well as having enough staff to do the job safely so they get proper rest periods for instance.. (and I DO UNDERSTAND that those same rules do NOT apply in the theatre of war !!!), nevertheless, the UK MoD do have Home Regiments, and other Military personnel all over the world not operating in theatre of war scenarios.. and it's been well publicised recently the conditions they have had to work and operate under, yet I have not heard of the MoD - or for that matter, Her Majesty the Queen as the Ultimate Commander of Her Forces being sued for breaching basic Health and Safety rules in Her/thier Organisation.

I'm sure someone will give me an explanation as to why not, which I will find very interesting in this "Open Government" of the day.

Here's the deal, I'm 27. I have given the topic much thought and have decided to join the U.S.A.F. My sister, 9 years into service in the U.S. Army currently serving in Iraq, wants me to reconsider as do most of my family. I'm not so much worried about going off to war as I am worried about actually getting in. The main purpose for entry is to get my life back on track and get out of the military everything I put in. It sounds ridiculous I know but would me entering so late in life hurt me in any way, shape or form?

As far as medical waivers are concerned, I have a slight murmur in my heart, I don't want this to disqualify me. People I have asked have told me you won't know if you don't qualify if you don't try to join. Any insight would help my decision greatly.

Generals teell him it won't work, he shuffles his generals so that the leading ones now support his ideas. The citizens of the U.S. tell him that they are fed up, he pretty much says screw you. Both Democrats and Republicans in the New Congress say this is a bad idea, he says we need to make "sacrifices" in order to succede. How long before he sets up a dictatorship?

With so many Insurance companies refusing to cover/insure Military personnel, why don't the major UK insurance companies take the lead by instead of offering gifts like Dvd players, mobile phones etc to sign up with them, offer something more useful like a decent flak jacket?

I've been talking with a couple recruiters (Navy Army and Marines), well three recruiters. Im leaning towards a job in Navy as a GM (Gunners Mate), but I want to be out there doing something.

I mean I dont want to be on the front line, bullets whizzing past my face day after day. But I want to be out there DOING something, not sitting back in America while other people in service are out there fighting and dieing.

I want to do something and think that what Im doing is helping, and that Im not taking the easy way out. WHats a good MOS in the Army or Marines? (Its not like Im going to go out and enlist into whatever someone says, Im just looking for some helpful suggestions; but as of now, Im leaning towards GM in the Navy) Thanks

You're seen with a RPG...you get shot & questions asked later.
All automatic weapons are banned. You get caught, you go to jail.
Even authorized, controlled door-to-door searches for weapons.
In the USA & other "civilized" countries, you know the answer if you walk out onto the street with an RPG or automatic weapon!
What is different about Iraq? Is this too simple?

Putting a Navy man in charge of troops that are engaged in desert/guerilla warfare makes no sense. The only thing it affirms is the rumor that Chimpy wants to Nuke Iran from an aircraft carrier--you gotta be kidding me!! A troop surge to protect our contractors and troops as they exit makes more sense now than ever---Get on the net and contact your Representatives before W. starts WW3!!

Some guy just posted a question asking "How do you clear a room full of Republicans".

I am very republican, but I would never post anything so idiotic just to make fun of the other side.

I am currently serving in the Marines, and I happen to be very offended by what this guy said. I can't put my finger on it. Does anybody else agree with me, whether you are liberal or conservative?

Oh, and by the way, joining the Marines was my choice. None of the recruiters came after me!
