Yes i agree with answers so far. the armt = the infantry and because i come from a large number of family and friends who have served as soldiers in the infantry that is my belief aswell. I do ask why i have been given 2 thumbs down because i would like to see those people take charge of there respective nations without an infantry.

Thanks for your answers.

May i ask you opinions of the British army as im British ( Scots Guard to be exact, and my mates former Queens lancashire Regiment ) . My honest opinion is the Americans can be a joke alot of the time but they can also save my life just as often.

Personally i would say both the british and usa complement each other perfectly with the british proffesionalism and the american technology

The Infantry is the main part of the Army, with the rest being much of the support! It is the part that does almost all of the fighting, and dying!

There are different types however from Airborne Rangers to Special Forces!

And Vanamount, the Infantry will never be obsolete, and they certainly aren't in Iraq!

Many say we have gone too far the other way, sacraficing troops for weapons that will never be used, and are overly expensive!

How many Nukes have we had since 1945 and how many have we used? A big sink hole for our tax dollar!!

11B here, the infantry is the heart of the army. Everyone else is there as support to the grunts....cooks to medics are there to support us, so although the rest of the army is important, the infantry gets in , closes and kills the enemy and does the dirty work.

Believe it or not, conventional armies are in fact obsolete. No I'm not citing the nuke. Too extreme.
