Your first mistake is to call it a war.. It is actually an occupation. No one wins in a situation like this.

You question is dependent on the definition of winning the war in Iraq.

First a clear objective of the war is need to be understood. The USA's objective was to remove Saddam Housain and his cronies --- Mission Accomplished ------ and then we were asked to help stabilize a government. From my understanding about the role the USA said they would do in stabilizing the Iraq government included: train Iraq's military, provide protection to contractors (Iraq & Forein) to rebuild electric companies, roads, and other items necessary for human occupancy --- note - the miliary isn't rebuilding Iraq, but the contractors are.

So, do I want the USA to prevail in providing security in order that a country can exist without Saddam Hussain while maintaing business so that the USA and other courntries in the world can get oil ... yes ... the USA should prevail. However, I have a gut feeling that the objective of the war will change two more times before we can see this peaceful objective.

What kind of question is this? Of course I want America to win. How will the world benefit by insurgents/terrorist taking over an entire country? Because that is what will happen if we lose. Which basically means Iran will have control over its own personal terrorist nation(guess who supplies the Because that is what will happen if we loose.

Come on people, don't be stupid. Just because you have something against Bush or the reasons behind the war, it does not change that it would be bad for the country/world if we lose. Even the democrats want to win the war.

without takin the piss id say no because i would think it would be better if the British Army was responsible for ending the war in iraq and it was a goodthing because the british are a much more proffesional army and have in a way got to know the people of iraq which in turn has formed a sort of trust between the two. obviously there are still sick basta@rds that try to break this trust but so far its done well. As a trust builder britain is years ahead of the army in USA but as i said its not ment to cause offense its just facts that are known to the masses including americans that britain handles itself better than america.

America has already won the war. We are now occupying Iraq. Don't listen to any of this, we have to win the peace B.S. or what is our exit strategy, whining. We will occupy Iraq FOREVER.
It is just a matter of how many troops it will take. The more the Iraqis are able to police themselves, the less troops we will need.

No rational person, left or right, wants the US to lose in Iraq. Of course, we want to win. But at this point, it is moot.

There have been to many strategic mistakes made in this conflict and we may not be able to "win". The defn. of that being a stable, democratic Iraq -- as been said by our leaders. It has gone from bad to worse.

It CAN'T be done by military force, so I would consider it a win if we COULD win the war by diplomatic force. Putting an end to this war would be a win for almost everyone, and especially for America. I do want that to happen.

I want Iraq to stand up and police itself. I want America to be proud for what it has done. I want the people that don't back America to go live under a dictator and mass murderer then ask for help.

No offense, but you have a skewered view of what's going on out there. Talk to some grunts. There's nothing going on out there, actually. And they are, in fact, using live ammo. Remember; observation from intelligence types: When a double agent or a traitor figures he's hot he gets hyper patriotic.
