Usually we hear of 25-100 people per day being killed by bombs. Why is there no reports of major death by bombs in Iraq in the last few weeks? Is this a Right Wing Conspiracy to support more troops going into Iraq, the media not to report on the curious peace? I checked Iraq.net again today and no mayhem there. What is going on?

Okay, I don't know how it is where you are but in Hawaii most of the housing sucks. There are E-8s living in the same quadplex as E-2s. I thought privatizaion would make the housing better but they are just taking advantage. Soldiers are paying anywhere from approximately $1600 to $2600 BAH for the SAME quarters.

To add insult to injury, most of the housing here is so old and beat up it's pathetic. Nothing like coming to HI and living in a project.

My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 whole years and continuing :). I am a freshmen in college right now, and he is going to leave to basic training for the Air Force two weeks from now. All of my friends (both civilian and military) tell me that they have NOT MET one faithful person in the military yet: navy, air force, marines, army. I trust my boyfriend very much, and I know that he poses the same question to me. I feel that he won't be unfaithful, but it is always bothering me in the back of my mind.. I love him more than anything and everything and he loves me too, and I know there shouldn't be anything to really worry about, right? I just want to know if there are ANY COMPLETELY FAITHFUL Men and Women in the service?

My friend is in boot camp at Ft. Benning, and I want to send him something. I don't want him to get in trouble for contraband, so what is ok to send? I was thinking about sending him a book, stationary, stamps, pictures, chapstick, and possibly playing cards or a mini football or something. I know they can't have any kind of food or medicine, but what can they have?

Yes, HW Bush knew how complex the Iraq Sunni/Shiite/Kurd /balancing act was and had enough sense to back away. GW Bush knew there were Muslims and jumped right in -- creating a mess so difficult that no "right" solutions can be found -- even by panels of elder statesmen. GW Bush chooses a plan forward with a dart board and closed eyes, defying all, including common sense. He gets petulant when faced with the truth. Oh my gosh.

The insurgents are always looking for American targets to attack. So the key is for them to dress up like insurgents so they are not viewed as targets.

What do you think of this analogy? A friend of mine used this when I asked what his interpretation was of the function of each branch.

It was a general analogy - not applicable to any specific nation or to any specific reasoning behind using military force, but to the function of a given branch of service so to speak.

Anyway, what's your opinion?

Marines (as in invasion forces) - BANG! This is now ours.
Army (occupation forces) - Yep, still ours - BANG!
Navy (support forces) - BANG! Where do you think you are going exactly? BANG!
Air Force (suppression/initial attack) - BANG! Yes, we're coming. What was it exactly you planned on doing? BANG!
National Guard/Reserve - Who the hell do you think you are? BANG!
Total - DON'T MESS!

This is put in terms of how the US military is organized, but I don't mean to imply that at all - merely to ask opinions regarding FUNCTION. Regardless of nation. Is this a fair view of military purpose internationally? If not, how do nations differ?

A United States Marine was attending some college courses between
assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan . One of
the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of
the ACLU.
One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked to
the ceiling and flatly stated, "God, if you are real, then I want you to
knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes." The
lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by
and the professor proclaimed, "Here I am, God. I'm still waiting."
It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his
chair, went up to the professor, and cold-****** him, knocking him off
the platform. The professor was out cold. The Marine went back to his
seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked and
stunned and sat there looking on in silence. The professor eventually
came to, noticeably
shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, "What the hell is the matter with
you? Why did you do that?"
The Marine calmly replied, "God was busy today protecting America 's
soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid **** and act like
an asshole. So he sent me."
Re-post this if you support the military men & women who fight for you
God Bless!!!
