It is a very hard call. Consider what happened when we left Vietnam.

A lot of the peope who helped the US were murdered in the streets when the North Vietnamese came in.

Our troops could see the people they fought with and their families being murdered in the streets as they left on helicopters.

The terrorists, insurgents, and Islamic fanatics of both sides don't just murder other fanatics the kill and torture the innocent people who believe Islam should be a religion of peace.

If you think the world hates the US now just wait until the slaughter increases by fifty fold.

Iran will then have a legitimate exuse to invade to stop the slaughter. Of course they will side with the Shi'a and slaughter the Kurds and the Sunnis.

Unfortunately we can not undo the damage we did by going over there. We badly overestimated the Iraqis thinking that they would all be so glad to be rid of Sadam that they would become a shining example of democracy to the rest of the middle east.

They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. This certainly seems to have been the case in this situation.

Nice question!... extremely debatable.

My two cents:
I think he thinks he's doing the right thing, in his mind.

My personal opinion is that he's not. I'm not extremely intelligent on the subject because I don't care to follow it and I don't watch the news. But from what little I know there was talk of "weapons of mass destruction". We didn't find those, and then there's was something about setting up a democracy. And let's not forget the "fighting terrorism in THEIR own back yard, instead of ours".

You can slice it many ways, but I'm looking at the fact that our military is already downsized to minimal levels. Members are being asked to do more with less, and for those that serve in "front line" jobs - they are having to deploy to hostile areas more frequently than normal.

People love to say "well that's what they signed up for". Well that's bullsh*t. While serving one's country is an honorable thing, I believe it's an unfair situation when the commander in chief habitually uses the power for perceived personal reasons or gains.

Our troops need to be at home... stay home... and be prepared to defend the country should we come under attack. Troops should not be used at the mere threat or thought that some other country "has it in" for us.

So no, I don't think it's right to send more troops. I don't think it's right to use troops to establish democracy in some other country when we don't have our own sh*t straight.

He tried that two times already. He failed and they won both wars. But at least BUsh is not being cocky and he actually confessed that he failed. He said that he would not give up. But if this troop fails, then he would give up.

So, I dont really think he should be killing other people by sending them to war. BUt at least he said he was wrong and that this would be his last attempt.

Honestly, I don't really like Bush, but he admited he was wrong.

Also, instead of sending troops, he should go fight himself!! LOL!

I dont think there is a right answer to this one but heres my take
yes we should send more troops if for nothing more than to create an overwhelming presence of commited power to try and ward off future attacks ...Will it work? probably not ... hell Id like to send 1/3 the us population over (yes icluding my self ) to raise awerness of whats realy going on and then maybe next time we will decide to do or vote for things differently

It seems like a stop-gap to avoid making a real decision about the future of American troops in Iraq.

Are you kidding me? Heck no! Bush just doesn't want to look like an idiot! So he rather try to come out looking like a "hero" than thinking about what he should be doing, which is taking care of OUR country!! Since he is OUR president.

The trouble with Bush is that if he needed to go to the bathroom and he had a map to show him how, he couldn't read the map. He has advisors to tell him when to go and what to do. If he ever had an original thought in his life, it was probably what to do when he got up in the morning.

No not really. He mest up his plan from the beginning in Iraq and now he is sending more troops. When you ask me, this make any sense. We are loosing more soldiers, but he don't care about it anyway.

I think its a good Idea. This one person said(back in WW2) ,"Send Overwhelming Numbers. That's is the Key to victory."
