Depends on rank and size of family. Also on branch of service.
I've noticed that Air Force housing seems to be better than Army housing.

For instance:
Married Couple = 1 BR apt.
Usually an additional BR per child up to a total of 4 BR's.
Sq. Footage is usually based on rank as well. E-6 and below in one bracket, E-7 and above in another. It's not that big a difference, though.....no need to be jealous. LOL

Also, on post housing includes all utilities except phone/internet. Single units may not include W/D, but multi-family units usually have a shared laundry room. Some installations are starting to charge for utilities but this is offset by a partial housing allowance in your pay.

Here in N. Va. the cost of living is ridiculously high, on post housing is a big savings over the cost of living on the economy, where even the housing allowance doesn't cover all of the expenses.....most, but not quite all.

Hope my experiences are helpful to you. =)

youll live in a 4 story tall building, it will have platoon sized bays youll sleep on bunks and share a communal bathroom. (if you mean the housing you stay in going to basic training. thats army basic) if you mean in your duty station it varies from base it base and living stauts ie single or maried (and branch to branch) on my post my unit has the best housing single soldiers live in 2 man rooms each one has a room to himself. with a small kitchenet and a bathroom they share

Barracks when not in the field. In the field in could be anything, two man tents, under the stars, in the back of a personnel carrier, you name it!

It's based on your zip code, rank and if you have dependents or not...
