Requirement no. The Marine Corps Physical Fitness test (PFT) covers three events: Abdominal Crunches, 3-Mile Run, and Pull-ups or males for Flexed Arm Hang for females. Scores and requirements are based on age. I will warn you that you will be doing lots and lots of push-ups in Basic, as well as sit-up, jumping jakes and just about every kind of exercise you can think as well as many you cannot. For a male you want to be able to do 20 pull-ups and 100 crunches in two minutes as well as a good run time.
The links below give details on scoring and requirements as well as a PFT score calculator.
The best advice I can give you before going to basic is to run as much as you can. You will run all the time. The PFT is one of the most important things in the Marines. It affects your Proficiency and conduct reports, you promotions and just about everything else. The Marines prize physical fitness and marksmanship.
I hope this helps. Semper fi

I believe the Marine Corps expects it's people to be able to get down and 'give me fifty' whenever the mood strikes them. Anyone who is in reasonable shape but can't do fifty should not despair, all one need do to get there is to start with as many as you can reasonably do, but do them everyday, twice a day if time permits, and add one each day until you are where you want to be.

If you think that's not a reasonable regimen, let me tell you that fifty years ago I started adding push-ups to my regimen for the purpose of meeting Marine Corps standards. I built myself up to doing two hundred push ups in one session. To this day, I still do push-ups as part of my daily regimen, however I'm not as ambitious today as I was back then, today I only do one hundred fifty per session, as part of my daily regimen!

Don't bother! The marine corps is modern day cannon fodder for politicians! You'll see your buddies mown down and blown apart in ugly wars that are sold under the guise of "fighting for freedom". Question your real motives as to why you want to join. No amount of "hooays" are gonna save you when you when the **** goes down and your fighting in a war that most people back home don't really give a sh*t about!

Yes there is and how many depends on your age and sex. I think you are a guy, so if you can do 50 push-ups in two minutes then you are set. But you need to also consider this; you will also have to do about 50 sit-ups five minutes later and then run two miles in under 14 minutes five more minutes later. Don't worry, basic training is made to toughen you up so that you can accomplish these goals.

But why in the hell do you want to join anyway? Did you not hear that President Bush himself said that 2007 was going to be extremely bloody this year??? For the soldiers??? Think about your choices a bit more... take care and good luck!

Not sure about the USMC, but there is no requirement for joining the Army. However, there is a requirement to graduate Army basic training...

If you need to ask, then you should probably not join the Marines. Try the Navy -- they will order a Marine to do them for you!

Nope, like the others said we do pull-ups and as sad as it sounds, 3 is the minimum.
