What do you think of this analogy? A friend of mine used this when I asked what his interpretation was of the function of each branch.

It was a general analogy - not applicable to any specific nation or to any specific reasoning behind using military force, but to the function of a given branch of service so to speak.

Anyway, what's your opinion?

Marines (as in invasion forces) - BANG! This is now ours.
Army (occupation forces) - Yep, still ours - BANG!
Navy (support forces) - BANG! Where do you think you are going exactly? BANG!
Air Force (suppression/initial attack) - BANG! Yes, we're coming. What was it exactly you planned on doing? BANG!
National Guard/Reserve - Who the hell do you think you are? BANG!
Total - DON'T MESS!

This is put in terms of how the US military is organized, but I don't mean to imply that at all - merely to ask opinions regarding FUNCTION. Regardless of nation. Is this a fair view of military purpose internationally? If not, how do nations differ?

I asked for opinions on my friend's analogy. Do I have to point out that I haven't stated my own opinion because I'm trying to consider what HE said?

because the Air rigidity is the most technologically vulnerable, they do have a higher cost variety than the different branches. when you consider that they are truly considered the brains of the defense force, they get more suitable constructive centers, bases, and so on...also undergo in concepts that the AF is the youngest branch, while the different branches are centuries old. This also has a lot to do with the bases. more recent branch, more recent bases. The Air rigidity does get a variety of of flack from the different branches notwithstanding (ever heard of the "Chair rigidity"?), notwithstanding it truly is all branch competition. The Marines notwithstanding are by using no advise disrespected. I truly haven't any further some thing yet appreciate for Marines.

Yes... in general the job of the military is to break things and kill people.

Interesting analogy, crude but accurate.

Why would you be trying to consider what he said when it's just plain wrong?
