Theres a test (Not talking about the ASVAB) you take prior to Boot Camp, its either at MEPS or prior to that. So I have 2 questions for you...

1)- When do you take this physical test?
2)- What are the things you have to do? (Like how many pull ups, push ups, sit ups, how fast of a mile or two, ect..)

Thanks

In a recent pole conducted when men and women were asked if we should defend ourselves against threats to our national security, 90% of men said yeas and 80% of women said yes but when asked if a draft was reinstated should women be included, 60% of men said yes and 10% of women said yes. Do you think this is hypocritical, and is not a mans and a womans life of equal value?

Hey there.

I'm thinking about going into the Air Force Academy via ROTC, but I'm kind concerned about the fact that I'm not quite the fittest person out there.

For example, I'm pretty good at most sports, but not good at just one, and I can't play at school due to me having to work. I can do a mile in about 9-10. Push-ups don't look so good, but sit-ups are competitive numbers.

I know that the military wants fitness, but is this the kind of "kill yourself hard" fitness that I saw when those Marines came to our school? Or is the AF less strict about that? I really don't know and am in the process of looking for advice.

So, if anyone could advise me about this, or provide me with a good website where I can find out real info, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

2 more British soldiers (both aged 21) killed this weekend!...Isn't it time Blair and his government brought our soldiers out of Iraq before more of them are killed?

Kuwait media is reporting today that the U.S. may launch a military attack on Iran before April 2007. Mid-2006 President Bush signed off and approved military action against Iran (Google it for yourself) and there has been extensive covert reconnaissance going on in/around Iran (by a number of countries) since that time. The U.S. also sold Israel a TON of weaponry last year too. Israel of course is like a Rottweiler yanking on its chain (they want to attack Iran) and Prime Minister Blair of Britain (strong ally of President Bush) will be out of office before Summer 2007. With President Bush's recent deployment of 20,000+ soldiers and sending of patriot missiles and extra military equipment to the region, the time for this sure seems right if there ever was a time. President Bush and Cheney have also said recently no one (including Congress) will stop them from this latest move and they have continued to refuse to talk with either Iran or Syria. Does this say something to you or what?

This question is intentionally broad.

Ethical considerations aside - does war (historically speaking) typically achieve the policy goals outlined by the side that starts it?

And please don't over-generalize perceptions of current events.

Historically - what works and what doesn't? There have been thousands by now, some of them failed, some of them didn't. What are the crucial variables?
