I am writing a paper for a competition and I need to know if they can, because I don't want to sound stupid.

Yes if the Senator isn't beyond the age for enlistment. He'd have to give up his seat in the Senate.

The constitutional age requirement (over 30) for a Senator would also serve as a limiting factor, because very few if any are elected that young.

No; they have restrictions on outside income. Majority leader Frist was a dr. They had problems b/c he wanted to deliver babies to keep in practice but the dems complained. Also members of the military come under the Executive branch of gov't and you can't serve in two branches of gov't.

Yes, if anyone qualifies, anyone can join the military. In fact, there is a congressman that just got re-elected in his home state (i think it's Missouri) and he was wounded in action several months ago...with at gunshot to one of his lungs.

I would assume that most are to old to join... however I believe that members have served in the armed services and were in the inactive reserves while serving.
