Im not a Brit, but I would think the British of all people would understand the complexities of the situation in Iraq, you lost hundreds of thousands of soldiers in pointless imperial wars over the last couple hundred years, and you suffer very few casualties in a war that actually has something to do with the stability of the world and you want to leave. Seems a bit strange to me.

Silly answers you say, well you really don't know war, I too have several family members in Iraq, they all feel the same way I do, why don't you try to understand some of these answers instead of dismissing what you don't understand.

that's a unique incontrovertible truth that the British defense force, as a finished, are higher knowledgeable. It per chance the incontrovertible truth that alot of people are weekend warriors... it may well be the actual incontrovertible truth that the British infantry route takes 24 weeks (26 for the potent Guards branch) compared to the 8 week American course. In saying all this... on the battlefield, we are pals. honest sufficient, the U. S. has to quit it with the historic blue-on-blue (shaggy dog tale men) notwithstanding I hve no impediment with the american military. after we are together, you'll see each and each of the USA of a squaddies in the gymnasium pumpin the old iron, and the united kingdom Troops out in the area tabbing or walking round. Its a thoroughly unique tale in the pub. i trust I examine someplace that once the U. S. are on ops with the united kingdom they are warned "by no skill artwork jointly in ingesting competitions with British squaddies" LOL

I think you're missing the point. When people join the armed forces they are fully aware of what their tasks will be and that there is a possibility that they might be killed. We all value life and it is a tragedy when it is taken away. But that will never stop people joining the armed forces. That same motivation drives mountain climbers, bungee jumpers, sky divers and other dangerous pursuits.

The people who participate in such activities are the last to complain when tragedy strikes to their friends and colleagues and they still press on with their activities.

It strikes me the only people who make a big deal out of these events are those using them to impose their belief that the armed forces should not be used to oppose evil regimes.

It is not a happy thing obviously.

I guess the real question is what is the cost of pulling them out leaving Iraq in its current state?

YES, however, until we have a change in political leadership, this will never be! Tony has too much face to lose, afterall his future now can only be in the U.S. we don't want him here anymore, he has let our troops down, his party down and us all down but most of all the rest of the world!
