In a recent pole conducted when men and women were asked if we should defend ourselves against threats to our national security, 90% of men said yeas and 80% of women said yes but when asked if a draft was reinstated should women be included, 60% of men said yes and 10% of women said yes. Do you think this is hypocritical, and is not a mans and a womans life of equal value?

To Jbean I think it is I heard this in college from my instructor, why would I lie about something like this. If you don't believe me that I am indeed a college student then call 707-263-4944 when their open and ask if a student named noel attends their, by the way the instructor was Kitt Jones and the class was critical thinking.

This is not the exact pole that I read in college but here is an online pole that shows close to the same results if you do the math, you know statistics.

The results of this survey seem to be working out to support the claim as well.

Hey people remember my question is do you think women are hypocritical in their response to this question, not do you think they should be drafted.

Absolutely its hypocritical! And heck yes if a draft was to be instituted then yes they should be drafted as well!

They want to be treated equally then give them everything they asked for!

The problem doesn't lay in equality. The problem is that no one wants to hear of a woman POW. The atrocities that can happen to a woman are far more psychologically damaging. So is a man seeing a woman being killed in the battlefield. Both are terrible things that people don't need to deal with. Another problem is that a man watching a fellow soldier being tortured isn't something men can handle, especially if it is a woman being tortured in front of them.
That's just my take. If there is a draft, and woman are included, they should have stipulations on what MOS women should have in a combat area.

The military doesn't want to be forced to train anyone who's not willing to volunteer. Other than the possibility that some congressmen want to reinstate the draft just to relive their college days (or something foolish like that) this question is hypothetical only.

So, hypothetically, there's enough non-combat positions that everyone of every age could be given a job to do. Though few of us are smart enough or dedicated enough to finish the job...

Thank God for our volunteer men and women in the service!

Thank you for defending us while we sit here idly typing away, pretending the world is a safe and sane place.

I think they should. If a draft starts again yeah. Draft them. Women demand equal rights. Women say they can do anything a man can do. Women say they can do any job a man can do. So send them a draft notice.
Oh, one condition. The Bush twins should get the fist two notices. Mary Cheney should get the third.

Why not? They want to be equal don't they? So this is part of the downside. You can't pick and choose if you are serious about being a male equal. Personally tho I don't think they should be drafted.

In this day of equality I think that it is fair. Women have much better stamina then men anyway and it is their country to defend as much as it is the mens. It is not such a big issue in places like Israel.

If all the men and all the women are at war, who is gonna look after the children, disabled and elderly people? No I don't think it would be a good idea at all. Those jobs are just as important. :-/

But...who are the people carrying out the threats? Men, if men start the problems, then men should fight the problems. I think the reason why we have terrorism is because the other countries have problems with our government. Our governments are predominantly male.

Personally, I don't want to be drafted. However, I do believe in equal rights, so sadly, I gotta go with yes.
